For me its the long awaited ATR. The Chinook II is also on my short list, along with the Ronin and SS Cricket.

Shootist,

I'll second your SS Cricket, throw in an Do-Do or two, and wonder where the WTC and John D’Allara Rescues are.

(and let's not leave out the Mouse 2)

Hey, Ken,

A picture = 1 KW so I'll post these and keep my verbage down.

From the archival halls of Zoology comes the extinct flightless bird of Mauritius. It was larger than a turkey and weighed in around 50 lbs. It had blue gray plummage, a large head, and a black bill that hooked at the tip. The DoDo was hunted to extinction by 1681.

The Spyderco knife has a blade that ressembles the bird's beak. Another similarity can be evoked by comparing the smaller sized blade with a larger handle to the bird's beak and body size. I'm just guessing but the knife looks kinda like the bird and the name seems to follow.

I handled one at the Spirit of Steel Show and walked away sold on its ergos, the awesome big little blade, and funtionality of the ball lock. The knife will be a RH front pocket carry for me - fighting over a daily rotation with the SS Cricket, Mouse, Rookie, and hopefully a G10 Mouse 2.

As much as it pains me to say it, there is nothing in the 2003 cattle dog which really rings my bell. I suppose I should really be grateful as it means more money for my new skis (Atomic TM-22s with 7TM binders if there are any pinheads out there) but life just doesn't seem the same without a or two on my wish list. I'm really sold on flat ground, Wharncliffe pattern blades for my carry knives (even my beloved Chinese Folders don't get carried as much as my Centofantes) and there's nothing along those lines in the current line-up. I am still looking forward to the Yojimbo and Tusk if they come to fruition and also the John D'Allara Rescue.

Medic2110,

These are to be the new model Rescues based on the WTC Models. Hopefully this will link directly:

World Trade Center Rescue Project

quote:
There was one special request from the NYPD crew who secured the steel. Officer John D’Allara was a respected and loved member of the department and he was also a Spyderco aficionado. Officer John D’Allara was lost that day. After the mold is reworked to remove the WTC skyline, the Spyderco bug will replace the skyline and the knife will become the John D’Allara Rescue and will continue in the Spyderco model lineup Saving And Serving in his memory.
