New Byrd, Cara Cara, FFG, St. steel...

Post by Mitko »

Helloooooo, it's been a while, but i had no money for Spyderco knives...I'm lying of course... I had the money. I also had bills to pay. You all know how it is... :-)

So after few months working with Victorinox, utility blades and a SOG autoclip, which turns out to be a very nice folding knife. I just had to resharpen the blade and change the angle... and the steel is a bit soft. The good is that it is nor rusting and the handle is ok..... STOP! We are not talking about SOG here!

I just wanted to share the wonderfull feeling that a person has when holding a Byrd or a Spyderco. Everything is ok. The handle is dig enough, comfortable without sharp edges. The new design with FFG blade makes it so easy to cut and it is sharp as we all always expect from every product of this company. the lockup is stable, no bladeplay in any direction. The finish of the handle and of the blade is ok too... :-) I'm happy... It's like meeting an old friend... i love to hold a Spyderco again... bye i'll cut some tomatoes... for testing.... and for a salad...i'm hungry... too much emotions, need energy ;-)

i guess few take interest in your purchase , but i am . i got a meadowlark 2 ss too , but mine had a couple of defects witch 1 i solved , the blade was rubbing the metal , hard to close , but i sanded that part , and now i can open /close it pretty nice, i am glad that yours its ok .
- as you see in the title this is the spyderco forum , not much byrd, 8cr13mov, china made knifes fans around here.

Byrds are an entry drug. I started buying Byrds and liked them but would have considered spending $ 100 or euro's on a knife ridiculous. Then I tried a little more expensive knife, the Tenacious. And then a Paramilitary which I suddenly didn't find expensive at all. And then of course I had to have a Military. And a Caly, and... well most people here know how it works.
That said, Byrds are great knives and I use them happily alongside my "official" Spydies.

I love my Meadowlark 2. Its so smooth, well put together and well designed that it deserves a little love here. Nothing wrong with a Byrd.
So many knives, so few pockets... :)
