Question: New Endura 4 ZDP-189: Slight discoloration in jimping?
I just got a brand new Endura 4 ZDP-189, and have a question about it:
The knife looks and feels great! The only thing is that the metal looks much darker (grey) in the grooves of the jimping on the blade spine. In the grooves, it is not silvery like the rest of the metal.
Is this normal? The knife is brand new.
I'm a little worried that it could be the beginnign of rust/corrosion, so I put lube into the groves with a toothpick.
Any advice would be welcome. (ie: Is your Endura 4 is the same or different?)
Sincerely,

If you want it shiny inside the jimping, take 24" of dental tape and run it over a bar of Chromium oxide compound. Get it green all over. Then clamp the open knife edge down in a soft-jawed vise and floss the jimping grooves until they shine. When you have done this, wonder no more at the fact that Spyderco leaves it undone on their knives.

@pmbspyder: Good to hear it's normal for the jimping to be darker.
@SteelIsReal and @Bill1170: Ah, good ideas. I don't have chromium oxide, but I'll be getting some Flitz metal polish. I'll try polishing the grooves with dental tape and/or a toothpick.
@chuck_roxas45: lol! The zdp-189 blade is very very sharp out of the box... :)
@Donut: If you can check, that would be cool.
My metal-polish probably will arrive in 10 days; maybe, I'll post some before/after pictures.
Thanks for all the replies!
Sincerely,
