New knives are fun! (ZDP-189 Ladybug)

Just got the addiction numbing feeling of purchasing a new knife. I ordered it off of Cutlery Shoppe ( my first time with them ) after reading about all the positive things you guys said about them. What knife did I order? Glad you asked, I ordered the new ZDP-189 Ladybug FFG! It seems like the perfect key-chain/sheople friendly knife. I have wanted a ladybug for a while, but the high price and features ( saber ground, boring colors, etc. ) made me think twice. Now with the FFG and "British Racing Green" color made me really want it. I'm heading off to college soon and don't think packing a para-military 2 will be a great idea. Hopefully with it small size and "cute" appearance people will not think twice. Also the campus thefts will have trouble noticing this as a target to steal with it being located on my key-chain. Now, with the new knives comes a few well needed questions. Do any of you have this knife, and do you like it? Hows ZDP-189 compare to other steals? And is this model of the ladybug blow the others away? That is all, enjoy your day!

I have an original Ladybug, in green, and serrated, from around 2004/5, and a ZDP one from a month or so back...thank you Mr Glesser...
Both are looped together, and fit in my coin pocket on my trousers...so I always have an EDC pair...

And I can sling both aruond my neck on a breakway chain if I am very casual and in shorts with no pockets...

I will do pics later...

I just got mine few days ago and absolutely love this little thing. IMHO ZDP-189 is a perfect choice for this little blade, but I am thinking to get one more, most likely Salt or Hawkbill Salt.
I realize how difficult it is to design a very small knife like this, make it to sit snag and secure in hand, lock like bank vault, and cut like much bigger blade. Hats off to Sal and all people who made this possible.

Got mine recently too, what a slicer ! Cuts like a scalpel. It's a great little key chain knife but I'd be mindful of the delicateness of the tip. A VG10/H1 sabre grind 'bug will be more forgiving for rougher usage. As a slicing knife it's fantastic!

I love mine (of course I love all my Spyderco's :) ). With ladybugs, my grip seems so much better with a bit of paracord tied to the lanyard hole. I'm no good at fancy lanyard knots yet, so just have a few inches of cord tied with a simple knot, and it really gives my large hands a better grip on it.

Also, I tend to have a fair amount of pocket lint. If you open the knife and don't hear the "click" of the lock settling in, look to see if lint got into the space between the blade and the lockbar.

This knife is super sharp and so convenient!

Congrats on the new knife. I was thinking about getting this one too. Either this one or the H1 Hawkbill.

Anyway, I remember hearing someone mention once that they had a kydex neck sheath for a ladybug that draws the blade open as you pull it out. Anyone have an idea about who makes such a thing?
