Yojimbo 2 question for Sal/Mr. Janich

#1

Post by pmbspyder »

First let me disclaim this by saying I am only asking out of sheer child-like excitement over the release of this knife...

Are we still looking at a year end release or will Christmas come a little earlier this year? Not trying to hold you to a specific date by any means (I know and appreciate Spyderco's policy), just looking for a very general time period to satisfy my jittery excitement!

Can't wait for this one guys. Stunning collab out of Golden? Sign me up please! :D

I am super excited about this one also. I haven't been able to get a hold of an original Yojimbo. When one does pop up the prices are astronomical. This is going to be a production model right? Not a sprint?

No, I don't believe the original was a sprint. I think that was production also, I just missed the boat on it!

The only one i ever see on the secondary market is the Blue G-10 one which I assume was a sprint. I really havent seen any for sale recently though.

The first production model must have been around before I got bit by the Spyderco bug.

this is one of those models that i plan on buying when it comes out. i find myself being much more selective on which ones i buy. since i dont have a store that sells spydies anywhere around here i almost have to go purely on youtube and pictures of the knives.

I've been thinking of the Yojimbo II last night and today and am pretty excited with it's arrival as well. I did see a couple of the originals on sale on a couple different boards quite a while ago and really wish I had picked one up.

To tide me over I'm going to watch Yojimbo.

The Yojimbo 2 looks really nifty & a nice evolution of the original.

What would be a reasonable price on the original Yo, & what have they been asking for on fleaBay?

All the Yojimbo's I've seen that have sold in the last few months have ALL gone for more then $200 US ------- a lot of them for $250 / $275.

I am happy I was able to get mine and I am REALLY looking forward to the Yo 2 !!!

Thank you all for your enthusiasm for the Yo2 (and the original).

For the record, the original was not a sprint, it was full production. It was made in black and blue, both standard production items.

The Yo2 has been plugged into the production schedule and will be included in the 2011 mid-year supplement. My best guess is Q4 2011.

Believe me, I'm just as anxious as you guys... probably more!

Stay safe,

Mike

Thanks for the update Mike, I've always been a big fan of your designs, and the yo2 is no exception! Can't wait for this one to arrive on the scene! Thanks again for the reply, very humbling that you would take a minute to let us enthusiasts/fans know what's going on. All the best -

Ahhh, right in time for christmas and my birthday. Great news!

:spyder: I've got two smurf killers I bought before they were disco'd. I've always kinda kicked myself for not getting a black one especially being a MBC player but now I realize I'm very lucky to have two yojis, black or blue and to have only paid new graham retail prices! :o :spyder:

Man it has to feel good seeing people hyped up over something you created. Aside from knives and cars and stuff, i'm a bit of an artist on the side and i know how good it feels when someone likes a piece i've done so i can imagine how good you feel knowing people are chopping at the bit for this knife. It's at the absolute top of my wish list, and i can't stress enough how big of a deal that is for me considering i have a "don't buy it until i handle it" policy but i would order and pay for this knife today if i could without a second thought.

Just out of curiosity but have you worked on any other designs, and can you tell us if there's any plans to in the future?
