Vibram Five Fingers

#1

Post by I_like_sharp_things »

For those who don't know Vibram Five Fingers are the shoes with the toes. I just got a pair last week for running and they feel awesome. He look on peoples faces when they see them are also pretty funny. Does anyone else have these for running and how well did you transition into them?

My buddy has a pair, i put them on and they rock. I used them once for disc golf and they were great for walking on the rocks and in the creek. I really need to get a pair. Plus they look awesome.

Don't the things between the toes creep you out?

- best wishes, Jazz.

Jazz- At first they did feel a little different because I wasn't used to it but now I think they feel like gloves for your feet.

I've been thinking about a pair of these for running as well. A buddy of mine just got a pair a couple of weeks ago and has good things to say about them thus far. I've recently started wearing Injini socks with five toes sewn in them and although they were a tad odd feeling at 1st, I've come to like them a lot.

I love mine  . They're super comfortable and love the look on people's faces when I walk by ...always a double take :D . Haven't tried running in them yet, but they're great in the gym for durig weight training. Odd looking ...yes, but they're addicting. Looking to get a pair of the suede variation. Take Good Care and Be Safe Always.

God Bless :)

I've been wearing them for two and a half years now. I love them. I have the KSO Treks for work and office. I also enjoy KSOs for running. Sadly, they don't allow them at my climbing gym.

A little wierd at first, but totally awesome. It's like walking barefoot.

I have a pair that I use primarily for lifting/kettlebell training. I really enjoy them. I do run in them, and personally found within just a few steps that my usual heelstrike was going to jostle my body to pieces. Thus, I switched to more of a midfoot strike and while my calves are sore the next day, I have no more problems with shinsplints and the like.

Sarguy- I just finished reading that book last week and thought it was amazing. While it wasn't the deciding factor in more barefoot running for me it certainly helped the decision.

I wore a pair for a while last summer - not for running, just for walking and daily use. Ended up hurting the arch of my right foot, haven't worn them much since. I'm a bit of a pronator, I think that the lack of arch support was allowing my foot to roll to the right and putting too much strain on the arch tendons.

I guess that just because it's more "natural" doesn't mean it's actually better for you.

I have been interested in trying a pair since I first heard about these on here. Will hopefully try some soon. I hear good things almost exclusively.

That's funny.

I got them for my problems with pronation from my years of skateboarding ankle injuries, and they have completely stopped my ankle rolls which used to happen almost weekly. It did take some sticking with it in the beginning and paying attention to my foot strikes.

Last summer, I ran around at the waterpark in Hawaii as an EMT wearing them :D

EVERYBODY wanted them after seeing how ninja they look (plain black ones, covered top)

Bad for your image :D

Of course a Saver Salt complemented the lineup!
