Spyderco Sage 2 Titanium/cPM-S30V...$150 Titanium Folder Made in Taiwan?! What's up?
Where's that animated icon I had on my computer showing the horse being beaten to a flat, red, bloody pulp???
Sal, as usual, is the customer-oriented one who behaves like a gentleman. :D
Sal, on the below, I would really love to see some white paper micarta. It's almost as good looking as ivory (well, almost), and it doesn't have any of the other issues. Big thumbs-up for that!

By the way, We're trying to decide what handle material to use on the model; Al Mar's original white paper micarta or ??? Thoughts?
Hi V8r, Michael Janich is working on a booklet that will inlcude all of the ethnic series models with pictures and story of the original designs.

Last I recall, long front bolsters were either definite, or at least under serious consideration. If that's still the plan, my first choice would be cocobolo but white paper micarta would be fine.

hey Sal will this book be available through SFO when it comes out or will it be included with ethnic series knives?I would gladly pay a little more for a knife if it were included. Thanks for everything you and the Spydercrew do every day.sal wrote:Sorry Deacon. :o

My dad always tells me its his Mexican and Asian American employees that work the hardest at his dry cleaning business. He just doesnt understand why some people demand double the pay and yet want weeks of paid vacation and take more "breaks" than a pregnant woman. He always complains about this whenever I see him in his broken asian english. I think its hilarious. It's also those same people who no doubt look down upon "lesser" nations and their products for some odd reason. Of course its completely cool to support USA made products and companies if that is your sole intent.sal wrote:It is only in America that I hear the expression "Don't work too hard". In other "lesser" countries, they say, "Work hard, be successful".

Haven't worked out a marketing plan. Just working on the booklet. I imagine we'll do whatever our customers want us to do.v8r wrote:hey Sal will this book be available through SFO when it comes out or will it be included with ethnic series knives?I would gladly pay a little more for a knife if it were included. Since the Sages are a tribute to the original lock and it's designer, using the same materials as they used would be more than appropriate, just as you did with the RIL/Titanium and the Michael Walker Liner Lock/carbon fiber. :)sal wrote:Sorry Deacon. :o

So IMO definitely micarta, white would be a huge plus.
Unlike so many products in today's market there are excellent knives made here in the USA. Having the choice I choose to buy knives made in this country whether Spyderco or other brands. It's not a matter of putting down another country, I have nothing against Taiwan or Japan. I simply prefer to spend my money on knives made here and there are enough high quality examples that I'm not missing out on anything I want.

Well, two reasons. First because for many years it was about keeping jobs in the US, which created a prejudice against anything made overseas. Second is, well because a lot of stuff that comes from overseas is made like crap. Fortunately, the manufacturer that Spyderco works with in Taiwan (not to mention Japan) don't screw around and take pride in their work.Zac wrote:Why do we equate products of Taiwan with being crappy anyway?
