Is Spyderco any good?

#1

Post by the_tenth007 »

Just kidding! :D My name is Joe and I have been bitten by Spyderco!

I am a new member to this forum and new to knife collecting. I bought my first Spyderco Tenacious a few weeks ago and was super impressed by such an inexpensive knife,

And then it began.......

I purchased a Military w/ Digicam and a black blade and I freakin' love it! Once I tore opened the UPS package in my driveway and filcked the blade open I seriously didn't think I'd ever find a better knife.

Since then, yesterday I ordered a Paramilitary 2 in Digicam/Black blade because obviously I had to match my Military duh..

and I also ordered an Endura, the Lone Wolf Distributors model because Endura's are awesome and I own a Glock 17. (In stock & good price btw)

Anyways it's nice to meet you all and I guess this is my 1st post and introduction. Thanks for having an outstanding forum.

It's gonna be an expensive ride

Nah...Spyderco's no good. You should just send me your knives and save yourself some heartache. ;)

Welcome to the forums!

Welcome to the forums man! You're wallet is definitely in for a ride. Spyderco is only the beginning soon you'll start noticing other knife brands, then some CRK's and striders, then you'll want to try a custom out. At least that's how it happened to me.

If they are so good why did I end up having to buy 100 of them?

Welcome!

Nice choices as your first :spyder: s! I like the original Spyderco Para-Military, and I REALLY like what Sal and Eric did with the Spyderco Para-Military2.

If you like the Spyderco Military, you'll at the very least appreciate the Para-Military2. My opinion is the Para-Military and Para-Military2 are in classes all their own, and the Para-Military2 certainly has lead in that class. They certainly aren't "junior" to the Military.

Well, get used to it. Spyderco knives ARE quite popular and sometimes certain models are, indeed, on back order. Been there, done that. AND, they certainly are well worth the wait. :)

Congrats!! I started with a Tenacious as well. The Military and Para 2 are two of my favorite models to use also--it's awesome you have a matching set! I am very eagerly awaiting the arrival of my Para 2 Gray 20CP sprint (and carrying my S30V para 2 in the mean time :D ). Also, I can't wait to see the Brown XHP Military, it may be my most anticipated sprint ever! I hope that is comes relatively soon after this Para 2 Carpenter sprint.

Welcome, and enjoy the ride!

OMG My Para 2 came today!!, took 1 day to arrive from HowesKnifeShop.com (Jim, the owner is awesome btw)

Checked the mailbox on the way to work and was surprised...so there I was opening the usps box w/ a knife while driving, not my best idea but couldn't resist and low and behold my new Paramilitary 2. I didn't know what knife it would be since I've ordered so many lately :)

Then while driving of course I was flipping it open and shut on the freeway trying out the compression lock, another brilliant idea certainly.

This knife is fantastic, very smooth and lock doesn't stick at all like others I've read about. Only imperfection I saw was the G10 around the lanyard hole on one side looked like it could have been drilled cleaner and the blade seemed to be sharpened pretty high, much more than my Military. No big deal.

The Gray Para 2 looks awesome and I really want a Brown Military, anyone still taking pre-orders?

You might get lucky with a Brown. The grey has shipped I think.

Grats on the Para :) I adore the compression lock. Talk about a design that gives you peace of mind!
