Nice pictures! I've never been much of a fan of metal handles. But recently, I've been putting my Sage 2 to use, and it has really been growing on me.

See how your lockup fares. Got mine about 1.5 months ago and the lockup was pretty early, but now is extremely late (not abused what so ever, opened and closed probably 120 times since I've gotten it.) Now I'm just worried about it becoming even looser :/

Decent knife, but definitely could be happier with it.

also if anybody from Spyderco sees this, the biggest improvement to this knife could be with some jimping on the inside of the frame lock (to give some purchase when you push it open).

If you send it back to Spyderco I am sure they can tune the lock up for you.

Is it better to keep the knife stored in the open blade position? Figuring in the closed position, the blade is pushing the integral lock further out away from the handle, possibly making the lock less prone to spring into the middle of the handle?

Probably not, I think at that point it defeats the purpose of a being a folder. When I first got mine I was happy because it locked up at about 40% (figured it'd break in somewhat) Now it's at like 90%, and the frame lock edge isn't fully flush with the tang it contacts like you see on some good frame lock knives.

Still seems to lock up tight, just isn't ideal, and sorta makes you wonder about the quality of the titanium/treatment process.

I just got my Sage 2 a few weeks ago as well. It completes my Sage collection (until the Chaparral comes out :D ).

I'm loving it as well. The Chokwe got me really into Ti RILs, and the Sage 2 is a great EDC and fantastically simple yet elegant.

Probably was just expecting too much out of it. Not a sebbie/stryder/hinderer, but a midlevel frame lock. though I really don't see this frame lock as better than some sub-100 dollar knives. Who knows.

I've been using my Sage 2 a lot lately, and have opened/closed it hundreds and hundreds of times. Lock up still looks as early as when it was new. Same with my Chokwe.

I'd send it back if it were mine.

In fact i think the design is so classy and streamlined I can see it being impressive in 200 yrs in the future.

I wouldn't mind seeing the improvements that were made on the Titanium Military with the lock insert and stop make their way to the Sage 2.

I'm thinking that locking/unlocking will probably have less wear on the lock bar than squeezing the knife while cutting will. Also, how hard you use the knife will probably have a larger affect on the wear.

I find this hard to believe since the sage 2 I owned for nearly a year has been stuck at 40% lockup the entire time and been cycled open thousands of times. Either you got a lemon or you're leaving something out.
