Internet Explorer 9

#1

Post by jackknifeh »

I recently upgraded (?) to IE 9 and the PC has been acting strange. Not really bad, just wierd. Example: Right now I have -1 messages in my email inbox. I've been ignored by women before but never to the negative level.

Anyone else notice anything?

Jack

EDIT: I just clicked to check messages and received 2. So -1 + 2 = 2? What, new math? lol

Internet Exploder.

IMO you should install Google Chrome and forget IE exists.

I don't have any problems with women ignoring me. IE 9 works just fine. IMO, it's much more faster and user friendly than other browsers.

+1 ... IE9 looks like someone showed the MS developers a copy of Chrome and FireFox and said "we want something like that ... but it has to be based on the old IE software ... and we're in a hurry ... ". Chrome is far far better :)

I like Chrome's speed and simplicity but it ate some passwords when I was moving toward making it my primary browser, and I have gone back to Firefox since. I still usually have at least IE FF and Chrome installed, often supplementing with Opera, some IE engine mods, etc. And that's if I'm in Windows. Part of Firefox's appeal is its multiplatform compatibility.

I've been out of the real world for a few years now, computer related anyway. I don't work anymore. If I changed from IE now my wife would also and she HATES change. That's the only reason I'm still around. I do use a different computer though so I guess I could but maybe I'm too old for any new tricks. :(

Didn't I see in this forum something about problems with Chrome and the Spyderco web site? Maybe not, I didn't really pay any attention to whatever I'm thinking I read.

IMO, Firefox is great, Chrome passable, and IE is behind the curve as usual. My main concern with Chrome is that Google has shown even less respect for privacy than Microsoft. Haven't really used IE9 much, but haven't noticed any problems with it. Don't see any reference to email in mine, possibly because I use Thunderbird rather than Outlook Express. Problem with Spyderco website in Chrome has been fixed, but every browser has sites it renders poorly, try using Yahoo News in Firefox, then try it in either of the others.

The biggest problem with IE is that most of the exploits aim for it. If you want to deal with a virus, then IE is a good choice.

You guys are making me curious about FF and Chrome. I may have to try one or both. It'll give me something to do and who knows I may stick with one. I'm going to search for free downloads tomorrow because if they cost anything I'll probably forget it. Are there free downloads? If so, would it be a free trial period and then pay later? Thanks.

Both Firefox and Chrome are free. I used to be all about the addons and extensions on Firefox, but lately i've been keeping it simple on Chrome. I use AdBlock to keep the stupid forum adds from popping up everywhere and that's about it. All the addons and extensions are free too.

Ff has become as bloated and slow as IE....but Chrome is fantastic. Super fast, uses a lot less resources too.

That was why i switched to Chrome. Chrome is what Firefox was originally. They kept updating and overdoing Firefox until it just got bigger than it needed to be. It got to where i couldn't post on forums and i didn't know why...it had something to do with Firefox eating up bandwidth somehow and timing out my connection. I switched to Chrome and haven't had the issue since. I also like their take on tabbed browsing a lot better than anyone other browser.

The nice thing about Chrome or Firefox is that you install them and IE will still work the same. Just put the shortcuts next to each other and use whichever you prefer.

when you work for microsoft you must use IE. tbh I've tried messing with chrome and firefox. but, I always go back to what works. I've had far to many issues with chrome and ff to bother with them.
never had any problems with viruses using IE. you just have to be smart and know what not to click on. staying away from bad porn sites also helps.
