Knife suggestions

#1

Post by razorsharp »

Hey all,
I'm currently having no luck finding spyderco knives down in the south island of new zealand. But I have found sog, leatherman, victorinox, gerber and I think I'll probably come across some brands like ka bar, cold steel, smith and wesson, "maybe" benchmade and stuff.

so far, I have my eyes on a victorinox mini champ, leatherman micra and a gerber curve, any thoughts on them?

Ialso have my eyes on some more "up there" knives. I have found a leatherman skeletool (420c, not 154cm), gerber suspension, victorinox swiss champ and swiss lighter (blue windproof flame for the pyromaniac inside us all,i don't think its available in the u.s),and I think the swisstool was In my budget. I'm open to suggestions!

The blade can not exceed 3 inches

My knife budget is $170, $200 NZD at absolute max. I can't do two things at the same time on this phone so I can't convert currency to U.S atm so if you could convert prices of any recommended knives, it would be helpful

Thanks all

-Travis

Too much work. How about you search it, list your options and prices here and we'll pick one for you. ;)

I found another suspension, it was 90,.. "ON SALE" that's roughly $70 U.S, . I will only buy one of its from before 2008 when they were made in taiwan, not china, apparently the quality control went downhill

i just got the svord peasant today. it's a friction folder, it doesn't have a locking mechanism. when it's open, your hand holds the tang in place. the blade is carbon steel (not stainless). i decided to fix the uneven blade grind and do some polishing on the blade.

You did a good job. I think the knife was a black and orange omni hunter . It was relatively small though. It had a 3in" blade, maybe longer . the handle was really curved

i see you are also looking at some multi-tools, the buck omni hunter is a fixed blade. are you looking more for a multi-tool, fixed blade or folder?

Travis,
New Graham knives will be happy to mail you any Spydeco and most likely this will be much less expensive than the most, which you mentioned.
"People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf"

My top choices Natives5, Calys, C83 Persian

So what's stopping you from sending cash to someone here in the states and have them buy you the knife you want and ship it back to you?

If you don't have a computer at home, your local library will provide free internet access (assuming you are using your phone to access the forum)
Buy online. Local bricks and mortar store prices are a ripoff. In NZ and Oz.

Some friends use Spydercovt.com (Username: Catamount on here)
Try talking to Ron at urbanconquest.com.au He also has a forum - Urban Bunker.

There will be other online options as well

It's too bad you have a 3" limit or I would send you a Kershaw.
