I hope the Tuff is not so expensive as the lion spy ? Do you know when production of the tuff will start ? I can't wait ,I want the CPM -3v .The steel is around the the same abrasion resistance of the S30v ,but much more tougher !

Very much doubt it will be. Country of manufacture is a big factor, and in this case, it's collaboration with a completely different (expensive and high end) manufacturer in Italy, whose knives are often over $300.

Meanwhile, I believe the Tuff is being produced in Taiwan. Judging by other knives with similar materials (save the 3v), I'd say it'd be more like a $200 street price.

I think it will probably be a good while before production starts, as they were still modifying the Tuf to get it perfect, and there are TONS of new Taiwan models in the works (an insane amount! but I love it). The Chaparral, Valloton, Des Horn, Szabo folder, Tuff, and G-10 Cat and Chicago are all in the pipeline, and I might be forgetting some. And of course, that's not including current models (for example, I know a new run of Sage 1's is supposed to be out in the next month or 2).

I bought my Lionsteel SR-1 for 360$ NIB. I wanted a lionspy too but not for that kind of cabbage. The SR-1 has pushed my Umnumzaan out of my pocket as my favorite knife. The one piece titanium handle is a work of art. Russ

With the super high-end elmax steel, machined Ti and G-10 and from this maker, $312 including shipping seems very reasonable. Remember, there are also costs associated with making a brand new model. Being $50 cheaper than you got your SR-1 (NIB but pre-owned?) with the only "inferiority" (if you can all it that) being the lack of a one piece Ti handle seems pretty reasonable IMO.

One piece titanium handles are usually found on custom knives and sleipner steel is no AUS8 if you know what I mean. I got a deal from a supplier I buy often from so that price is a bit low but the strucural integrity offered by having one piece handle is not to be scoffed at.
I have dozens of spydercos but this will not be one of them. Russ

Tuff is still pretty far out there, from what Ed Schempp said, photos should never have been allowed as the design is not even finalized.

I don't quite understand how you can make that statement. You've never even used that knife.
That's just like saying you wouldn't want to bang Jessica Simpson...cause you know she's unobtainable.
Personally, I would feel very lucky to have had her...or this knife. :)

300+ is a bit steep. But, certainly not for someone that appreciates quality. It's still less than a Sebenza w/more expensive materials and more machining/manufacturing involved.

Sure, you may or may not like the shape or design for whatever reasons. You know what they say, different stokes for different folks. I happen to like the blade shape and design. What's not to like about a "BIG" belly blade. :D

If you've ever seen a knife with a decent size belly at work you'll understand why.

I just hope the packaging is very nice and special. Makes the buying experience all that much better.

I've heard the name Lion Spy but that's all. Are there pictures, specs, etc.? Howe's doesn't have a picture. They also say it isn't named yet.

If someone wants to meet Jessica Simpson at least they know her name first. :D Actually, she used to be my girlfriend but after about 7 weeks of her telling me she hated me and never wanted to see me or hear about me again, I dumped her! :D

Fear not, it looks like they will go out of their way to get all your money. :D

Jack

Edit: It looks like there is one country they won't ship to and that is New York. Sorry NY, you are off the island.

While, to me, it's a perfectly reasonable statement. Nothing, including Jessica, appeals to everyone, not even to all the folks who can afford them. Not to mention that, to some of us, the LionSpy would be better compared with Marge Simpson than with Jessica.
