I noted Jurphass said "not available yet, but getting very close." I need many of these, for myself and as gifts!
Same here - I do hope that they are priced to be affordable, like the UKPK because I will need a few of these as gifts and for EDC :)

I think the first run will be a bit "Henry Ford" in it's colour range - you can have anything, as long as its black! ;) Other colours will probably follow if it proves to be the huge success that it is looking now :)

The "bi-directional" nature of the texture is just because it gives the same, good grip in both directions - it has the same texture as peel-ply G10 (similar to the FRN UKPK) but doesn't have any special 'pattern' on it, like some Spyderco knives.
My spydies: Squeak, Tenacious, Terzuola, D'Allara, UKPK CF peel-ply pre-production, UKPK CF smooth pre-production, UKPK G10 orange leaf-blade, UKPK FRN grey drop-point, UKPK FRN maroon leaf-blade, Bug ... all PE blades :)

Yep, Chris got it right. The knife doesn't have a visual bi-directional pattern, but it does give somewhat of the same effect by touch. Take ant FRN Slipit and force your fingers forward and backwards, you'll notice it gives a little resistance. Much more resistance than up and down. The goal was to mimick G10.

The Puukko is one nice knife. I'm curious what the sheath will look like as he said it will be hanging as per tradition. I guess this will have a partial tang as well.

I like the Squeak. I keep hearing it's the Chicago re-visioned. Is it the same blade shape as the Chicago? I own two. Nice travel knives when your not sure about the local laws you'll be traveling into. I'd really be interested to see how well the Squeak does in the European market. I think Spyderco has got a winner in their hands. Looking forward to owning a few of these myself.

The Squeak / Chicago blade shape seems pretty much identical to me - I have looked at the photos of both and if there is a difference then it's hard to see - even down to the jimping. When I saw the Chicago I think I was one of the first people to say that it should have been a SLIPIT so it was really exciting to see that the Squeak was a dead-ringer :D

I love the puukko! The choice of wood is excellent. Being of Finnish decent I am really looking forward to this knife. Also the addition of the indent on the handle was a smart move. It will make it very easy to get a well fitting custom sheath. The worst part will be waiting for this beauty to ship.

#512

Post by Mr Blonde »

A tour of the upcoming Manix 2 Lightweight by Eric Glesser. As you can see by the end of the clip I did try to take the knife home with me, but I was unsuccesfull ;-)

The end is near, after this one I only have one more coming up of the Yojimbo 2.

That Manix2 Lightweight looks great - I want one :D I was surprised that it is in BD-1 steel though but it should make it easy to sharpen up.

There are videos on Youtube. I don't have the link handy but it's a 1 of 5 video series of the 2011 SHOT show.

I can't blame you. This M2 variant was really impressive in its weight to size ratio!

Yojimbo 2 looks great. Love that it has what appears to be essentially the same great compression lock that is on the Para M2. Also like that it doesn't particularly look like a mall ninja tactical knife yet it is optimized for tactical use.

Thanks to Wouter's video, the Manix Lightweight has jumped to very high on my list.

Thanks to Michael Janich's remarks regarding the utility of the Yojimbo 2, it is one unequivocally the top of my list. Times 2.
