That all depends on how much you want this knife. You have to ask yourself is it worth $300 to you? If it is, then that is all that matters.

Since this is a sprint run and was released in very limited quantities, the retail price is irrelevant now. What matters is only how much you can get it for at prevailing prices. The price is what it is now.

Retail was $180-$190. $300 is too high for me, but they get scooped up fast on bladeforums at that price, so in that sense, it's reasonable.

MSRP, retail list, was $290. Discounted retail was in the $180/190 range. If I wanted one I would not hesitate to pay something around MSRP. There aren't going to be any more of those, and it is a particularly good knife.

I think the eBay price was current market. $250 was then, $300 is now, unless you are very lucky.

$250 was my price since I missed the pre-order boat. I'm still happy I got it for that price.

I guess another way to look at it is to ask whether this knife is twice to three times as good as a regular version of the Para 2.

It's my favorite also, but I haven't had many different models. I've bought 3 p2's and have the carpenter one on preorder, but I'm probably too far down the list. I had to pay 265 for mine.

It's a Sprint run with CF and S90V so that's not really out of line price wise.

Just the steel alone demands a premium price, then add on CF and we have it.

S90V will literally cut pretty much forever and Spyderco has the HT and Tempering down pat on this steel.

To some it's worth it, to others it's not. But that is the price, there is a limited supply and they are getting used up...slowly but surely. One of mine is my pocket now. The others are waiting until I do something stupid to my treasured piece.

In the scheme of things, this isn't much money for this type of knife. But if you are looking for a deal, then the regular Para 2, or one of the upcoming sprints in some nice steel is the one for you. Only you know that answer. I wouldn't say you are getting taken at $300 for a CF/S90V. That seems to be market now and it may be going up. Look at the Manix 2 and Military with the same material. I expect the Para 2 will be there soon enough.

I have both and carried/used both of them. And the price difference is justified for my tastes. I'm a steel junkie and a CF freak. :D

If we're talking about how much better one knife is over the other, no, the S90v knife does not cut 2 or 3 times better. The S30v Para 2 is a **** fine knife and is available at a **** of a good price.

The real difference between the 2 knives is how I profiled the knives. The S90v knife is thinned down to 20 degrees inclusive while the S30v knife is at 30 degrees inclusive. I also rounded the shoulders on the S90v blade to simulate a convex grind. It sails through whatever I'm cutting. At the same factory angles, the only difference would be edge retention.

Exactly right. Based on the S90V Military and Manix 2 I have, if I had missed the discount pricing on the S90V Para I would not hesitate to pay $300 for one of these, but YMMV.

Already up to $300 eh? I don't think even the s90v military goes for that high yet except a few ebay crazies, or does it?
