Anyone seen the Squeak yet?

#1

Post by TC32 »

I've been loving all of the coverage from SHOT Show 2011, there are some awesome looking blades on the way.

One that I heard was there but haven't seen any videos or photos of is the Squeak SLIPIT. I'm seriously excited about this one and was wondering if anyone else was anticipating it too or knew of any photos or other info from SHOT about the design.

I'm also dying to take a look at this one. Hope we can see something soon.

Looking forward to seeing this one too. I keep thinking someone might spot it in a video.

If the Squeck is a production prototype, then I'll get footage of it. I'll make a note of it, for the upcoming Amsterdam Meet.

At last year's A'dam meet there were 2 prototypes of the Squeak. One of them (I believe the italian one) had brown-ish G10 (or was it micarta) handles and a FFG blade. All in all it looked a lot like a shrunk Urban Leaf, which is a good thing imho :)

Thank you!

I most definitely wouldn't mind another Slip-it!

Great, that would be very much appreciated, thanks!

It would be awesome if it still has that FFG, can't beat it for little EDC type tasks. Thanks for the info!

I want to know why Amsterdam always get all the fun first! :D Boooo ... can't we have a Spyderco meet-up here in England sometime? :) I'd *love* to see the Squeak - it sounds like the knife I have been waiting for :)

I guess it has to do with being able to bring more than just the slippies into the country, which will probably be somewhat of a problem in the UK. :D Other than that, the Squeak may be a home run for British users :)

I remember reading somewhere (can't remember now) that the one they had at the SHOT show was "plastic" handled (which, to me, means FRN). At least, I'm certainly hoping for an FRN handle on this one as that is my preference.

I really hope it is as good as it sounds ... would love to see some photos of one when they're proto'd :)

I doubt that there would be no problem bringing locking knives into the UK - plenty of knife traders exist here and they have no problem with commercial imports and I presume that if there was an exhibition Spyderco would truck/carry the knives in themselves anyway. The only banned items on Spyderco's list would be the obvious ones - autos and balisongs.

The only problems recently have been with personal imports that are routed through a particularly "stringent" (trying hard to choose my words carefully here) Customs office at a place called Mount Pleasant. The managers at this office seems to have an anti-knife agenda and they are 'trying their luck' against individuals who want to buy knives from abroad. But commercial imports have been going through unhindered because they know that companies are far more prepared to challenge seizures in court - and win

I just hope the Squeack has been promoted from concept model back then, to production prototype now. Then we can share pics and such. I liked the ergos of the concept model version, didn't think the blade was too small at all.

I can't wait for this little knife. I've enjoyed the UKPK over the years (particularly my new Carbon Fiber version!), and the Urban has been my go-to EDC in environments where even the larger UKPK might raise eyebrows. I'm looking forward to the 2" blade and, presumeably, 3" handle for when I travel.
