ZDP Endura revisited
It's been several months since I carried this baby, and so I rocked this today. It's been rebeveled to 24 degrees inclusive and it cuts like a dream. Everytime I use it, it brings a smile to my face. The ZDP is also a steel head's buddy with holding that edge at that that thinness. I have forgotten and rediscovered how pleasurable the endura ergos are for me. The adequate blade length is also another plus for me.
Here are the gratuitous pics.

Ah yes, very nice. My very first Spydie was a saber-ground ZDP Endura. I had Tom Krein FFG it, and I completely love it. In fact, it's in my pocket right this second. I am very happy to see them coming FFG'd from the factory now.
By the way, did you get a mic'd thickness measurement behind the edge prior to reprofiling?

I have added a few Enduras to my collection since the last time I showed any off. I scored a new old stock G-10 Endura and to my great surprise it is CONSIDERABLY thinner behind the edge bevel than any stock knife I own. I will have to mic it later today to see, but judging from the length of the 30 deg inc bevels...this thing is THIN!
Sorry this has little to do with the thread, but hey, it is a bump?
Nice looking blade Chuck! I am longing for a ZDP FFG Delica. I have been diggin how thin the Delica blade is lately...and have not missed the length (I am in the office a lot more lately).

Thanks Ken, but that is interesting to know! Can you update us please on how the mic'd G10 endura compares with your other FRN FFG Enduras.unit wrote:I have added a few Enduras to my collection since the last time I showed any off. You know I have to +1 this! :Dunit wrote: Nice looking blade Chuck! I am longing for a ZDP FFG Delica. I have been diggin how thin the Delica blade is lately...and have not missed the length (I am in the office a lot more lately).
I love my Endura FFG ZDP, I still carry it on Fridays. It's really nice. I really couldn't ask for a nicer EDC blade. It's small in my pocket, big in my hand, very comfortable in use, and can even do some finer cuts with my finger on the back of the blade.
It also makes me smile every time I carry it. :)

Very nice pics. They whet my appetite---I've got one of these en route, thanks to one of our esteemed forum brothers.
What system did you use to get your 24 degree inclusive edge---Edgepro?
Andrew
Thanks, and yes, I used an edge pro.

How about comparing it to this?chuck_roxas45 wrote:Thanks Ken, but that is interesting to know! Can you update us please on how the mic'd G10 endura compares with your other FRN FFG Enduras.
Here is a close up (phone pic) of the two blades. The Delica 4 is re-edged by me, but the bevel is essentially as it was when I got it, only now polished. 30 degrees inclusive. The Endura is NIB...I pulled it out for this exercise.
And for the measurements....
Here is one more for an attempt comparison of the tip thickness. I had to zoom and crop, so the result is a little grainy, but I think you can see the bevel taper at the tip...it is barely visible on the Endura!

Hoo boy! Isn't that endura almost as thin as those krein regrinds? Pretty awesome!
http://uproxx.files.wordpress.com/2014/ ... ot-gif.gif" target="_blank
Yeah, depending on what a guy asked for in a regrind, it is conceivable that this is actually thinner than some!
Color me LUCKY!
What is more, if I could have dreamed, I would have wanted a SUPER thin tip with a slightly thicker edge toward the back where I generally perform my harder (more forceful) cutting....and that is what I got by pure chance!

Some people are just naturally lucky. :Dunit wrote:Yeah, depending on what a guy asked for in a regrind, it is conceivable that this is actually thinner than some!

Congratulations on an awesome knife!
But knowing you Ken, you'll probably experiment with some bevel angles on that knife. Keep us posted please.

Lately I have not done too much...I have Enduras representing about 6 different plain edge configurations, and they all perform a little differently if you are paying attention...and they all work really well

That said, I am not sure there is too many more PE configurations I am interested in trying on this platform.
ZDP FFG Delica....now that will be a new frontier for me!!!! :D
