Video of a Visit to the Spyderco Factory Outlet

#1

Post by Mr Blonde »

A quick tour of my visit to the Spyderco Factory Outlet. I found this one in my archives from my visit to Spyderco last year. It features a quick tour of the factory outlet store, showing the display cases with what they have on offer, the World Trade Center Memorial 'corner' and the the display about the Native program for US troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Thanx for the video.

Do you have any info on that tan Native with "NIC" on the blade? This is the first I have seen of that one.

Thanks for watching, the music is the best I could get from Youtube's library. I probably should see if I can get hold of some music I could use free of copyright claims with proper sourcing etc... but time is scarce...

It was a prototype to test the tan coating on the blade during the development of the Tan Native. I've also seen a Black FRN Native with a bladecoating that was black with a Carbon Fiber pattern. It looked awesome, but I'm not sure if durability tests warranted production.

Thanks.

While it would probably not be popular to the masses a much longer video with pauses over each grouping of knives would be cool. That is a wonderful looking facility. Thanks for sharing this. The production quality is top notch...what sort of equipment did you use?
Thanks,

How about several videos? One for each grouping. That'd be way awesome! :D

Thanks, but I'm actually not that happy with the quality. As best as I can figure out, the lighting indoors was not suited to good video. Especially with my fast moving camera. It causes macroblocking and the flickering light. I use a Canon camcorder with HD capabality and Adobe Premiere Pro to edit the video. A wee bit of flash is used for my intro shot.

I don´t have more footage than what I used, but it would be hard to get detailed shots with the available lighting and the glass cases. Sal talked about doing a full on museum sometimes, I´d love to be there with a better camera and lights, to shoot a documentary. Get shots and stories of every prototype before they´re put behind glass. Although I´m sure Michael Janich´s company could do a much better job than I ever could.

Thanks Mr Blonde for the video. You took time where it really mattered. Did anyone notice the number on the blade of the WTC knife? Very fitting considering all the Evil that went down that day. I rest assured every night knowing that the Men and Women from our armed forces are fighting the good fight against evil in this world.
