Welcome to the forum, Stonemark!. You have made a good choice in knives. The C41 Native is available with a stainless steel handle or lightweight fiberglass-reinforced nylon resin, this model is an ideal mid-sized folder. Both models feature a 3 1/8 inch (80mm) spearpoint style blade with a pronounced top swedge and are available in two configurations.

Check out this site if you'd like one<a href="http://store.knifecenter.com/pgi-Custom ... ter.com

Stonemark> welcome aboard

One thing you will want to consider about the FRN model, is that the CE model is more or less a SE model. Mine has about 1/2" of plain tip.

I carry mine clipped outside my belt, easy to access. It works great on food, though the serrations seem too short to work on trees.

email Linda 'Glasshartt' @ Glasshartt@aol.com, for a pricelist. she sells knives below MSRP.

Hi Stonemark,

In case you're wondering...PE stands for plain edge (no teeth), SE = serrated edge (teeth) and CE = combination edge.

Welcome to the Spyderco Forum. I have to agree with the comments others have made. The Native is a great design and the Lightweight FRN model is light, easy to carry and has great blade steel.

David

p.s. as I sit here typing this I'm carrying my blue G-10 PE Native - my favorite

Hi Stonemark. Welcome to the Spyderco forum. Thanx for the interest.

The Native is a good choice. The pattern was designed about 7 or 8 years ago. We've done many versions across the years.

FRN handle with GIN-1 Stainless steel blade

FRN handle with CPM-440V Stainless steel blade (powdered metal)

FRN handle with CPM-S30V stainless steel blade (powdered metal)

Blue G-10 handle with CPM-440V stainless steel blade (powdered metal)

Stainless steel handle with AUS-10 stainless steel blade

There is a new version due out early next year with an FRN handle and VG-10 Stainless steel blade.

Hi Sal.
You forgot the Black G-10 model with shell inlay and CPM-440v blade. Probably IMHO the best all round mid/small folder.

...A Native with G-10 scales, VG-10 steel, and a 4 inch blade...Now, THAT would be a NICE knife!

I rotate one out for work every other week, it's a lot of knife for it's size. Ours is a G-2 edge model, I have always liked the way this model feels in the hand, it's a real work horse! RKBA!

Welcome aboard and enjoy the Forum. Spyderco makes fine knives and at least one of them will fit your needs. The Native is a wise choice. Now as you found there are several versions of it, you may be confused. Feel free to ask for more details any time. There are a lot of knife savy guys who will gladly enlighten you.

Here's a selection of Natives for you. The Blue handled model and the two with inlays are G-10 handles. They're discontinued and getting much harder to get ahold of.
