Nah, if I were playing favorites I would have said Caly 3.5 :)

Hmmm... Maybe this is why Spyderco doesn't make just one knife.

I'm a small knife guy. Current favorite - Dragonfly 2. All-time fave - Cricket.

Depends on how you define "greatest". For pure longevity, with minimal changes over the years, the Police would be the winner, hands down. Aside from steel, markings, and a lanyard hole that appeared briefly a couple times, it's been pretty static for 20 years. Not my cup of tea, but you have to give credit where credit is due.

Evil D wrote:You guys are playing favorites...the quintessential Spyderco has to be the Delica. That said, i do really want a Cento 4. I was just lusting over one at the knife shop this past weekend. Lately i've really been into thicker blades though...how cool would it be to have the same knife but with 4mm thick steel? I love the profile of the blade (both of them).
I think the thin blade is what makes it such a great knife. That being said, a robust Warncliff is a workhorse that would have applications beyond what a thin blade could handle.

I was half joking that the Cent 4 was the best Spyderco ever. It is my favorite EDC but there are knives that work better under certain conditions. I carry my 93mm Rescue or Pac Salt if I am kayaking or in the ocean. I carry my SE Military if I think I might be needing a knife for self defense. I carry my FFG Endura if I plan on doing food prep such as a picnic or camping.

For everyday carry when I am just out and about or hanging around the house, the Cent 4 is my fav.

I used to love my Caly Jr. but I ran into a few cases where it lacked blade length. That extra 1/2" of the Cent 4 does make a difference.

The Centofante 3 is one of my favorites, and if I had a 4, I'd probably feel the same way about it, but the current champion in the single greatest Spyderco for me right now is the C44 Dyad I just found.
Newest :spyder: in hand: Halloween Handle Hap40 Endura and Delica.

Beat me to it and it's been my "cup of tea" since '84. Then it was the PIG though. I'm on my 4th one and as much as I love so many of my other spydies, the PIG is always my first choice.

Frankly,
I'm appalled that no one has seconded my call for the Military as greatest ever Spydie.

Caly Jr certainly gets another nod from me. It spawned a legacy of great knives. And I will selflessly make another plug for a sprint run.
So many knives, so few pockets... :)

The Military 440c 2 screw clip was the first Spyderco I ever bought! Number 12 in my Millie collection is on the way from CS this week. Not an EDC for me but I love everyone of them. (And the other 120+ Spydies) :spyder:

Favorite EDC Jess Horn Lightweight ;)

As a person that greatly prefers fixed blades, I would say that it's the Street Beat. Mr. Perrin certainly hit a home run, or whatever the French equivalent might be, with that design.

I do actually agree with you. I love the "pfft" on your first post, I just declined to second the motion then since people might think that this is your second account. :D

I just noticed that the blade of the Lil Temp and the Persistence are the same shape. Different steel, and no jimping on the LT...but pretty close to the same other than that.

I have a Cara Cara and a Delica. I'm really digging the delica. Spyderco's aren't the easiest to come buy around here so those are what I have bought online.

Delica it is.
