And cost the sponsoring dealer and the manufacturer :o a pretty good deal of goodwill.Distorted wrote:Let's just say that if the project was rushed, there would be plenty of QC issues we wouldn't be too happy about. I know i wasn't a happy camper about the results of one of the not-so-recent M4 folder runs.
I bought 4 of those. 2 large & 2 small.
2 were sent back for repair. (One Lg. was missing its tip and was un centered, the small un centered & rubbed and would not adjust out)
Both got brand new same numbered blades, now all 4 are 100% perfect.
This type of thing does happen, just with some runs more than others.
Were not talking custom knifes here. But to me Golden made Spyderco's are as close to a sure thing as you can get.

As far as that other run of M4 productions knives goes, I got two of the larges and was extremely happy with the f&f, blade centering, smoothness... However I will have to agree that the sharpening job was not up to par with what I'm used to seeing. My tips were also pretty blunt. In fact maybe I should send them in, did you have to pay for shipping back or did they pay for that?
Current Spydercos: CPM-D2 Para, Mini Manix 80mm, Sage 2.
Waiting on: CPM-M4 Military.

Which is the most recent status on this, then?TazKristi wrote:For those of you who have pre-ordered the C36GTIP KnifeWorks exclusive, we wanted to give you an update on its production status. Due to issues in production this model has been unexpectedly delayed. We are working diligently with our suppliers to address this, but cannot project a completion date at this time. When additional information is available, we will provide an update with a projected availability date.
Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Mon dieu, someone who actually calls Roger for status rather than whining here that no one is doing their work for them. Thank you for the uupdate! :cool:MCM wrote:Roger mentioned he might be getting 100-150 end of next week.
Good time to keep in touch with him & ensure your place on the list & your deposite went through. :D

Bringing this thread back up. I've been having my M-4 millie for awhile and I must say I really enjoy it. I can't seem to keep it out of my pocket. Such a solid knife. Just requires a little care. I've only had one issue with some very very bright orange rust but a little oil stopped it and cleaned most of it off. I keep it oiled often now to make sure it doesn't happen again. The knife is amazing. I find its pretty easy to sharpen and it just stays sharp. It's also slowly developing a light patina just from handling it so much. There's something about carbon steel that just makes me feel good. Maybe its because with all the advancements in technology taking a step back is better than forward. The irony of having an extremely corrosion resistant handle material and a blade that corrodes is interesting but good. I can only hope we can get a few more carbon steel blades from spyderco. Sprint or production. Mules are good too. Love this knife. I love S90V but carbon steel just calls to me.
