Want a Chinese Lum

#1

Post by BBQ BOY »

Hey guys,
I have been wanting a Lum for some time now. Can anyone give me there take on which model they have? I am trying to decide between the Ti and glass fiber.
How does the knife perform and carry?

Thanks a bunch.

Hi BBQ-boy,

I got one few few weeks ago; carbonfiber handle with a VG10 blade.
This knife is recently released, so there should be no problem getting one. Another is soon to come; the Large Lum folder, with a 15 mm larger blade. Also VG10 steel, but with G10 scales.
I find the handle a little too slim, and the blade too broad. For the rest the knife has great appeal, especially with the new japanese carbonfiber 'nishijin'.
All other Lums are discontinued and harder to get.

I find that the Lum is too small for my hands.

I just got the new CF model a month ago. I think the Lum series is one of, if not the best looking Spyderco knives. The blade is a great shape with plenty of belly and is a excellent slicer. It is a very lightweight knife. Only 2 minuses in my book. It rides high on the pocket and is pretty slippery. You don't get a good grip on it so I don't feel comfortable using it for anything other than light cutting. If it may get wet or bloody, forget about it. That said I have a large Lum on pre order. Hopefully it's scales offer a better grip.
