I'm in.

Think about it, a bowie made by Spyderco? It would be almost be anti American not to buy one. :)

I just completed a clip point, coffin handled, double or cross guarded Bowie, that I will take to the Shot show. This is a folder. I thought that I should do an American ethnic piece...take care...Ed

Ed, you really know how to bring a little sunshine on a cloudy snowy day in SC. Any chance you will bring that knife to the Blade Show in June?

So far Spyderco has the PPT, Street Beat, and the old Street Bowie that all technically fit that role. But Mr. Schempp's talk of a folding Bowie has me extremely excited.

I don't know if Spyderco needs to design a new Bowie yet. I'd like to see a rerelease of the old Street Bowie or a sprint of the Street Beat, and I'll keep my ear to the ground for the folding Bowie.

Not really. Figure the Bushmaster has queered them on wood for a while and the chances of them doing one in stag or pre-ban ivory are close to zero. Not to mention that the silly non-functional hole the insist on adding to the blades of their fixed blade knives would look totally wrong on a Bowie.

I'd love a sprint of Fred's Street Bowie. Maybe even a larger/wider blade on the same principle.

I always liked coffin handles. Sounds interesting.

Living in the wonderful state of Texas, home of the Alamo where Bowie died, and they *prohibit* Bowie knives, (yet don't define exactly what they consider a Bowie knife!) I'd probably not get one. Texas specifically prohibits double-edged knives also, and that is *probably* what the politicians were thinking of when they added Bowie knives, but since they don't define it, I have even avoided getting something like the "Moran Featherweight - Upswept Bowie Blade" in case of an overzealous officer.

Now if they don't *call* it a Bowie, and the swedge is not sharpened, I might be interested in getting one! :D

As long as it was designed after the old style orginal Bowie I would be in.

That is full tang, Flat Spine, all the way to the tip with about a 9-10" blade about 1 1/2" wide about 1/4" thick with a nice guard and comfortable handle.

Think Sandbar fight Bowie. :)

Ditto, all the way around. In CA I could carry any folder I wanted, as long as it wasn't a switchblade or gravity (including butterfly) knife. Here, in Texas, what I can carry is way more restricted. And in San Antonio? Even though everyone carries locking folders, they're illegal. So I'm stuck with my Urbans and new Kiwis. No complaining, Urbans and Kiwis are great. But I sure which I could carry my Leafstorm without fear of a zealous cop. (I don't do things to bring attention to myself, but I'd rather obey the law than push it).

That said, I'd love a Spyderco knife that was inspired by the knife of that hero of the Alamo. And Ed's folder sounds very interesting.

To all the Texans here...

...you guys should start a grass roots campaign to have the Bowie knife made the "Official Knife of the Great State of Texas, where every able-bodied citizen of said Great State of Texas shall be required to own a Bowie knife, and to carry it daily in an open manner, to demonstrate that said individual is indeed a citizen of the Great State of Texas."

Or something like that. :)

Thank you for information. Schempp's Bowie sound very interesting. Cannot wait to see pictures. Fixed blade also will be nice.
