Just got my brand new totally DLC'd Manix 2. It's really impressive with the liners, screws, pocket clip, lock-block, rear spacer and blade all DLC coated. I love it.
A couple of interesting observations with the paper memo insert 1) it states there are skeletonized liners to reduce weight yet they are full liners 2) it states the 154-CM is Crucible 154-CM, but I thought that was CPM-154CM?

Nice knife. I belive the CM stands for Crucible Metels and CPM is Crucible PARTICLE Metels. Something about a vaccum and keeping out impurites making the atomized particles do what they are supposed to do better.
Thanx for the pics, as I got mine yesterday myself, and I was wondering the same about that sheet in the box; this is the place for the answers, that's for sure. Any experience on how well the DLC holds up, or is it a rather new coating? I'm still new to all things Spyderco, but collection is growing just the same. Reason I ask, is that I'm planning on using mine for EDC and mainly only for SD and not everyday usage. I carry another Spyder for that. I usually only carry a SD knife just for that only, and don't use it for anything else, so I'm guessing this new coating should hold up very well?

DLC is pretty tough. I've had a DLC'd military for about 6 months and it has some scratches because it was cutting through rocky soil (don't ask :p ). Everything else I've done to it doesn't hurt it at all.
It won't flake off or anything though, and I think it looks kind of cool when it does get some wear on it.
Nice pics, thanks for posting! The black on the blade of one I received is a bit blotchy but overall a nice knife as I beleive the blotching is to be expected on Diamond-Like Carbon.
Sorry to dig this up, but I this was the most recent thread to address the liners that I could find.
I got one last week, and I noticed that the liners in mine are not skeletonized either. Its not a problem for me, but I was curious as to why it hasn't been addressed. Or has it and I don't see it?
Mine. :)

From the pictures of the DLC coated knives by Spyderco and other brands, the edges are all ground without DLC coating.
What not keep the edge also protected by the diamond like coating? Wouldn't that show more of the benefit of the additional process?
If edge dullness when new and/or re-sharpening are considerations, a chisel grind might be an alternative. Sharpen only one side to gain some "self sharpening' benefit.
I have done a few batches of DLC coated knives. 5 deers with un-coated knife, up to almost 4 times with DLC coated (18 deers). Uncoated knives do not make much sense after one learns how to appreciate DLC or titanium carbide coatings.
