I'm looking to buy another Endura. Currently I have a SS with an AUS-6 blade, but am not happy with the edge holding capability. I have seen the Endura in VG-10 with the FRN handle or the ATS-55 with SS, which do you all think is better? My SS is a bit slippery, but the FRN doesn't feel as solid, so I can't decide (wish I could get it in G-10.) Also, will the SS endura be available in VG-10?
Thanks
Justin
VG-10 much better than ATS-55?

VG-10 in the FRN handle Endura is your best bet, don't under estimate the strength of the FRN just becasue it's light.
I too hate the fact that the SS Endura is now AUS-6, some seem to like the way it takes an edge easier than ATS-55. But i'd just as soon see this particular model go back to AUS-8A. Just a personal opinion though, if everyone liked the same things it would really be a boring world. Ron

The only problem i've ever had with ATS-55 is getting it shaving sharp, even in that instance it was my fault because at the time i didn't understand back beveling and was trying to keep too steep an angle.
I always thought i knew how to sharpen a knife till i bought my 1st ATS-55 blade.
VG-10 on the other hand gives me no problem except it shows finger prints more. Ron

I used my ATS-55/FRN Delica for 3 yrs, bought in Aug 99... my VG-10 Calypso jr is only Oct 26, 2001... 440V millie is only 2 months.
ATS-55 takes a nice edge, and will stand up to abuse(don't bother asking what I did with it), and resharpens easily. I had one of the Delicas that didn't rust, and many of the ppl with '99 models had rust problems. It would rust from fingerprints.
VG-10 has a finer grain, and therefor takes a better edge. I have taken mine down to 20degrees, and only back to 30 after rolling a bit on the chicken bone. It is quite stain proof(so far), and the only maintanance my c52 has recieved is oiling twice so far for the pivot, few times on the blade(depends on the material just done cutting), and lately just hot water when I'm done. it holds an edge through a lot of use(about 80-120 boxes)
440V is my latest use. takes a sweet edge(2 weeks of use and shaves after a steeling), and touches up easy(hasn't gotten anywhere near dull yet and will not). so far has proven to be good for stain resistance.
Don't forget about the Aus steel though. Picked up a SpyderCard this summer. I have touched up the edge once, it has nothing for stains(despite pocket carry for 4 months and no oiling after purchase) with beadblast.
it still shaves too...

I guess i've been 1 of the lucky people so far about rusting, whats amazing is i live in a very humid hot climate 8 months out of the year.
When swimming in the ocean here i've always kept the ATS-55 Delica clipped to my swim trunks, after which i only did a fresh water rinse and a new coat of Rem oil.
To be honest with you i have not subjected the VG-10 to extremes like that so i really can't say for sure about how stain resistant it would be long term w/o proper maintence yet, but i would say it's as good as i've had in edge holding ability and ease of resharpening.
On AUS-6A in the SS models iv'e recently had to eat my words though, all heat treatment is not equal and evidently Spyderco does it better than most. Ron
