Check the 2011 Product Catalog.

Generally, it is referred to as stainless D2. I've heard nothing but good things about this steel and am looking forward to this sprint very much

The Carpenter datasheet is borderline funny on this - it says:
It can be considered either a high hardness 440C stainless steel or a corrosion-resistant D2 tool steel.
In reality, it is what it is... :D ...and it's very good. I don't recall anyone complaining about the Manix 2 sprint with XHP. Mine has been extremely satisfactory. It's not S90V but it sharpens up a lot faster.

This is just from my personal experience with CTS-XHP in my user Manix 2, not anything official. My experience is that this steel doesn't seem that similar to D2, even though all you hear about it is that it's "stainless D2". I know the elements listed for both seems pretty close, but that seems about where the similarities end. Stainless CPM-D2 feels more accurate, but still not convinced.

For example, D2 is known for being difficult to sharpen, at least as tough as S30V. CTS-XHP is nowhere near a pain to sharpen. It feels a little bit like simple carbon steel (1095) when sharpening, as it takes very little effort to put a very fine edge on it. I was able to put a hair whittling edge (LONG curls too, not just a little snag) on it in about 10 minutes. I didn't need to do much if any back beveling, but this was going from diamond stones to the ultra fine rods. I've also heard people claim that D2 seems to take a lousy edge and hold it forever. As stated earlier, my edge was the opposite of lousy. It seems to hold an edge for a similar length of time to S30V, but definitely feels like it has a less toothy edge, despite both steels being sharpened with the same size grit. Probably due to the lower vanadium content.

I've never owned a knife in CPM-154, but this sounds closest to XHP from accounts I've read. Fine grained steel, takes and holds a great edge, not difficult to sharpen, good corrosion resistance, easy to finish (liked by manufacturers, XHP is starting to pop up in a number of high quality makers), and not very much vanadium. I could be completely off base with this last part, but just putting it out there.

Hope that helps :D
