Pink Delica or Pink Native

#1

Post by Freediver »

Hey guys,

Kind of a subjective thread, but if you were to get your girlfriend/wife/significant other a knife, would you choose the pink delica or pink native?

I was unaware of the pink delica until last night. I think both would make a nice first knife, but now I'm thinking the delica may be a little more "friendly".

Any advice from female spydie fans would be greatly appreciated too! :D

Both great models, but I think the Delica is a more attractive knife.

I have one. The bubblegum pink is really sweet, but I have a hard time taking myself seriously carrying it :D (as a guy of course)

I'd choose the Delica over the Native.

I'm not female, but I'll try to conjure up my inner babe, hon....

I have a Pink Native and a D4 Wave. The Native is shorter closed (as it would be in the pocket) but same length open. It's wider and deeper, too. The Native's blade is beefier and with the finger choil fits my hand better. But, I'm a 5' 9" guy with size 11 feet and medium+ hands.

The D4 compared to the N is just what the name implies--delicate. In the back pocket, the length wouldn't be noticable. Without looking up the spec's, the D4 seems a tad heavier. It's definitely smaller in stature handle-wise.

The $64K Q's are: what does she like esthetically; what will she be more likely to want to EDC; does she cringe at the sight of an open blade; and finally, if you break up what will you regret giving away most? (j/k) :D

I will be picking up a D4Pink myself soon.

The delica is finer and sleeker than the native. That's why I think it would be better for the girls.

Thanks for the advice guys. I actually bought the native already about a week and a half ago, not knowing that the pink delica was coming out. I was just curious about your opinions because I too felt that the delica may have been a slightly better choice. I've been playing around with the native though, and it is a wonderful knife. I am sure she will like it.

I'd definitely prefer the Native, as proceeds from the sale of the pink Native help fund Spyderco's donations to the Breast Cancer Network of Strength.
