Hello, new here

#1

Post by xiuxiu1313 »

I have been lurking the last week or so and decided it's time to introduce myself. I have been into knives for a number of years now, but just recently got into Spyderco Knives and needless to say, Ive jumped in with both feet. Feel a little ashamed with the amount of money I have dropped, but what can you do!

So far I have:

1 Hollow ground black FRN Endura
1 FFG brown FRN Endura
1 FFG green FRN Delica
Byrd Raven (current EDC)

On the way:

Manix 2, Foliage Green sprint
Manix 2, Orange scale pre-order
Tenacious PE
Resilience PE
County Comm Orange LadyBug Salt
And the amazing Phoenix

Seeing it all written down is giving me a panic attack....

welcome and dont have a panic attack just yet, i'd write my list to make you feel better but i think i would run out of characters per post. 285 is the magic :spyder: number right now. that is one of the great things about this place, just when you think you have a problem, everyone will chime in that you are completely sane :D

it a great idea to just get it on paper. i took a boring sunday and did it. took forever.

i wonder who has the most spydies here? how long it took to amass them? whats the total cost? (would be a guess)

i made a complex list. whats dc'd, sprint, the name and brief description and model number and cost i got it at should i sell it someday.

im proud of my list :D took a loooottttt of time/energy
i have a hard copy printed out and saved on my pc. i add stuff every week and then print it again when i added like 5 things...

tony is right. you cant post that many characters here. :(
...i just tried :)

Also new to the forums. I have a few older Spydies, all with broken clips (all were FRN?). Just recieved my new Manix 2 and have a Q: What does the symbol on the blade--near the thumbhole-- mean? Looks like a stylized W with an arrowhead on the right side, or if you turn it sideways, an E with an arrowhead on the bottom

Regards

Did a quick net search for symbols but saw nothing like it.

That symbol . . .

That symbol of the capital E w/ the arrow is the symbol that the knife was designed by Eric Glesser. You would also find it on knives like the Dodo and Scorpius. Sal has his own symbol that would be found on knives like the Urban and The ATR.

Welcome. I've been suffering from the Spydieitus for a year. It gets worse.

I have 3 pre-orders (the Para Sprints and Orange Manix 2) and a Stag Arms Manix 2. 13 months ago, I never would have expected to have that many expensive knives, let alone that many pre-ordered.

Tony,
I'm not sure being diagnosed as sane by a bunch of lunatics is much of a recommendation. I wouldn't use it on a resume (unless you want to work at Spyderco). :D

i am nowhere near the leader here, i think some have over 500-600 and there are some old time collectors who aren't on here but are still diehard spyderco collectors that probably have a one of everything or close to it. as for price, i am just under 21K according to my spreadsheet. it is alot of money when you look at it in one big number but my friends have probably spent twice as much in the time that i have been collecting at the bars and all they have to show for it is a beer gut :p .
