Wallet (homemade, Tyvek) rides in the left rear pocket. Right rear is free for the knife. :)Evil D wrote:Yeah i get what you're saying. I've toyed with carrying mine in the same back pocket that way, but that's wallet territory for me.

I voted tip-up because the clip is more comfortable in the use position than when mounted for tip-down carry. Blade is against pocket seam for safety.
By use position I refer to cutting things with a forehand grip. I prefer the clip near the butt of the knife where it does not interfere with the control grip exerted by my thumb and first two fingers.

Not necessarily -- my work has a dress code prohibiting jeans except on Casual Fridays, but a deep-carry wire clip such as on the Caly 3 works great for In-Waistband carry, the wire clip fits under my belt and isn't very noticeable, a good thing since most everyone else in the office is uncomfortable with knives.burntrice wrote:Either are only really options if you wear jeans, which i dont. Clips are pretty usless for anything else.
Even on the knives which I carry loose in my pocket, I haven't yet got around to removing the clips, they help me ensure proper orientation of the knife in my hand when pulling from deep in my pocket.

My thoughts as well.cosmo7809 wrote:To be honest, I have no preference...
If I buy a knife I do not make the choice of T/U or T/P
Whatever it is, it is.
I also did not vote. Next time, how about a "No preference" option on the list?dialex wrote:I couldn't vote because I don't have any specific prefference, either way it's fine for me.

If a blade "falls" open in your pocket wouldn't you consider that knife broken? I would never carry a folding knife that the blade would just fall open. :eek:Evil D wrote:I'm not sure how you carry yours but for me when i'm tip up, the blade can weigh 5 pounds and it's not going to fall open because it's facing the side of my pocket
Anyway, tip up when in my pocket. Tip down when in a pouch (which is not part of this subject) because the tip end when folded is smaller and goes in and out of a pouch easier.
I'm still concerned about the blade falling out issue. Please get those knives repaired. If you don't please enter the date/time you cut yourself on this forum. I don't think it's a matter of if but when it will happen. Hope I'm wrong but I'll be looking forward to hearing from you.

Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner!HotSoup wrote:For knives with blades under 4", tip up.
For something longer, like a Military or Police, tip down, so you can quickly Spyder-drop it.
This is my wisdom.
The answer depends on the knife.

Tip Up was my first gut reaction, and a strong one (my first gen Endura engraved 10yrs habit) with a molded clip. It's roughly the only reason I don't own a Military.
But your post's got me thinking, not sure Ive ever tried to carry anything larger. Anyone wanna lend me a military to see if it feels as true as it sounds :p
