Spyderco dealers in Florida?

#1

Post by Lucentdawn »

This is a real shot in the dark but I thought I'd throw it out there - I have yet to find anywhere in the Fort Lauderdale metro area that carries Spyderco knives. The dealer search function on the Spyderco website does not seem to be correct - for instance, they list Bass Pro Shops but I know for a fact that my local Bass Pro does not carry Spyderco at all.

Any Floridians out there know of any good places in the southern half of the state to check out knives, especially Spydercos? I'd even be willing to make the drive to Orlando or something at this point. I've tried all the Army Navy stores around here and they typically carry Smith&Wesson, Kabar, maybe some Kershaws. The local Bass pro does carry some Benchmades, SOGs, Kershaws; it's the closest thing we seem to have to a knife shop here unfortunately.

Any suggestions?

I have seen Spyderco's at the Bass Pro Shop in Hollywood, Fl. Their prices are high though. Your best bet is wait for the gun show to come to the Ft. lauderdale War Memorial Auditorium.

Thanks man, although I was just at the Outdoor World (Bass Pro) in Hollywood/Dania Beach and asked about Spydercos and they told me they never carry them. It's possible they used to sell em. I'll take a look at the gun show for sure.

You need to go to Arizona Shooting Range on 441 just south of Commercial. They have a huge selection of knives and tons of Spydies, including some real grails, last time I was there.

Sometimes chain stores have contracts with vendors (Spyderco, Gerber, etc.) but each individual store may only carry what they think their customers want most. I'd talk to the manager at your local store and see what the deal is. Maybe he would stock Spydercos if he thought the interest was there. He may even place a special order for you along with a selection for his store and get you a price close to the web resellers instead of the price on the manufacturer's sites. I would love to have a store around me to shop in but the store that has the best knife selection for me is Wal Mart unless I want to make a day trip to look at knives. I may do that someday when I have enough money to make it worth my time. I hate shopping when I can't walk away with a bag of stuff.

I forgot, I live in the panhandle of FL.

That Arizona guns sounds like it's worth a visit, I must have completely missed that one in my research. Thanks!

jackknifeh - good suggestion! I find that my local WalMart carries the Kershaw Skyline and a few Gerbers but nothing is ever in stock lol.

Lived in Tallahassee for a while as a kid, miss those day trips to go fishing at St. George Island...

When I find knives at shooting ranges, they are usually egregiously overpriced.

I am thinking of one range in particular, which can be seen from I-95 in Delray Beach. I will never shop there again. EVERYTHING in that place is significantly more expensive than it should be. When I was shopping for a Glock 22, they had theirs for over $600 when I got it elsewhere for $529!

I bought a CE Gunting from them years ago, and paid a good amount for it but it was an impulse buy and you know how that goes. But that was before they instituted a "you-must-buy-all-your-ammo-and-targets-here-at-our-hyperinflated-prices" policy. THAT'S what really p###ed me off about them, and I won't go back.

So be price-conscious when you shop for knives at gun shops. Once burned is twice warned, for me.

+1 I gave a suggestion but I'll reiterate; don't buy it there until you do some research. That said...I did buy 2 titanium ATR's there for a more than reasonable price. One was even a collector's edition. Just be wary before you buy.

check out BladeArt at http://www.bladeart.com

I don't know if they operate a storefront, but I have ordered from them online before and was very satisfied with the speed of delivery. They are based in Miami.
