Ordered mine from Richard @ the SFO can't wait to get mine in hand next week. Have to contract out some scales and a sheath.

I was glad to see they were still available when I got home from a bicycle tour of Whidbey Island Friday night. I ordered two and will probably sell a few of my older Mules to make room for these. Will have to think carefully about what scale material will best set off the blade; some good suggestions in this thread.

There are a few. I made my first Mule by (sort of) following Quickbeam's tutorial: http://spyderco.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35469.

Just keep in mind his tutorial is for the first Mule, which had different sized holes from the subsequent runs. Current Mules have 3/16" (small holes), 3/8" (large holes), and 1/4" (lanyard hole).

If you have a router table, Hector Castro has a two-part tutorial that is pretty informative as well.

Just ordered one from John @ SFO (I had to call because I also ordered a g-clip). Now to find a suitable handle style...

I like Dymondwood. It's easy to work with and it looks really good if you sculpt the handles.

I did that for my MT-01. It is a great choice in every way, though obviously very different from a "real" wood product, or horn/ivory/etc. - or synthetics.

I've been away from the forums for a while and happened to pick this day to see what's new. Glad I did. This blade looks sweet! One on it's way. Aught to arrive in time for my birthday too.

Thanks Sal! :D

There are some terrific wood options from a seller on bladeforums.
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showt ... p?t=778693

I have gotten wood from him before. He has great wood and bends over backwards for folks. He shows the wood in blocks but will cut into scales at no extra cost.

He has other wood, but I think there are a lot of great pieces in this thread for the damascus Mule

Thanks for the link! I just ordered a mule and a piece of redwood for its handle.

I am new to the forum and would like to say that this is a really cool place and the members seem extremely helpful/informative/talented. It is also amazing that Sal posts here personally. I have several Spyderco's but and love their quality but after finding this place I can tell you that I will have more to come! Thanks again

I'm expecting mine to arrive later this week, maybe thursday or friday. I have a sheath that I think will work coming, and a set of Halpern scales. This knife is going to have to work though, and I'm looking forward to putting it thru tough tasks. I won't care if it gets dirty or scratched, and will just make sure I take care of it and not abuse it.

It's my first mule and they are meant to work in order to evaluate how well the steel performs. Have to admit the look of the blade sucked me in too ;)

I know Spyderco treated vg-10 performs very well already. It'll be interesting to see if the Damascened version has something extra........Anticipation :D :D

On a previous Mule TazKristi said that they do not make all available at one time. Seems like the outlet store inventory is counted separate, or something like that. So, presumable when these are gone they check the count and make the rest available, although not immediately. So don't wet your pants just yet if you missed out.
