Slip-it Kiwi
Slip-it Kiwi
I see KC has the slip-it kiwi
Wondering if anyone knows a shipping date? And if these are regular production.
Thanks!

No idea of shipping date, but can't imagine Spyderco tooling up for a new model just to make a Sprint Run, even in China.

From what I've read, they're very close, if not identical, in size to the original Kiwi and SS Kiwi. Don't want to confuse this thread with photos of other versions, but if the SlipIts are the same size then they should fit very much like this in an open hand and this in a closed one.ChrisR wrote:It's a bit 'pointy' but I'd like to see how they look in the hand :)

Ahh, OK so quite small ... I'd read on the Amsterdam report that they were closer to a Delica, which made them sound much bigger. Still, will be nice to see how they look ... I might face-down my SS-scale-phobia and get one :D
My spydies: Squeak, Tenacious, Terzuola, D'Allara, UKPK CF peel-ply pre-production, UKPK CF smooth pre-production, UKPK G10 orange leaf-blade, UKPK FRN grey drop-point, UKPK FRN maroon leaf-blade, Bug ... all PE blades :)

And to further confusticate things, KnifeCenter's got it listed as having a 2" blade. Spyderco collecting is fun, isn't it. :p :DChrisR wrote:Ahh, OK so quite small ... Maybe Sal can put us out of our misery? I am guessing that KC have seen just about as many SLIPIT Kiwis as I have ... ie. none :DThe Deacon wrote:And to further confusticate things, KnifeCenter's got it listed as having a 2" blade. Spyderco collecting is fun, isn't it. :p :D

In this post, Mr Blonde states that the forthcoming Kiwi slip-it is larger than the original Kiwi, almost the size of a Delica.ChrisR wrote:Maybe Sal can put us out of our misery? I am guessing that KC have seen just about as many SLIPIT Kiwis as I have ... ie. none :D
Mr Blonde wrote:Apparently the Kiwi was originally intended to be a slipit, but it just couldn’t be turned into a slipit in the original size. This version is a little bigger than the original kiwi, leaning towards a Delica size, and it’s a slipit.

When I held one at the Oregon Knife Show, it was closer to Delica size than the original, but still smaller than the delica and far less substantial in the hand. I remember it as roughly four millimeters thick, and the flat sides give it an all-together different feel than the lock-back. It was a really wonderful package, and I've been waiting eagerly to get one since.
I'm going to probably buy 2. I will buy one and strop it into a straight razor, the other will be my work knife for the lab.

Hi All,
I just picked up a Kiwi Slipit. I haven't it compared it to the original yet, but it sure looks to be the same size as the locking Kiwi.
I'm not sure I like that it was made in China, but the I do like the price :D The quality looks to be very high; though you will hear from some that the spring is too strong. For me the spring is so strong that opening the knife is a two hand operation, but I do like the walk and talk and snap as the knife opens.
For the price and quality, this is a great EDC knife. No problem throwing it into a pocket full of change; no fancy materials to get ruined. It has currently kicked my Ladybug out of my pocket.

There seems to be some questions about its size. Any chance you could tell us the actual closed and overall lengths?MountainManJim wrote:Hi All,
