I drive a very broken-in 1993 Jeep Cherokee. 2D, 4WD, 4.0L. Still runs well after 225K+ miles, though it looks a little banged up in spots. Just put a hood pin in (I should have a second one but I think I may have lost it) after the original hood latch assembly sheared off of the hood. one window doesn't close, one door only opens from the inside, headliner has been gutted because it was rotting out, but it still runs well and the stereo isn't too bad :D It's also far superior to any of the other vehicles I've driven off the road or when roads are flooding.

I just bought my third Mercedes....I'm excited....it's a classic...Silver Convertible, a 1961 300SL, it has all the bells and whistles, I couldn't be happier. I plan on taking this one to work everyday, it's a keeper and I plan to garage it.....I bought it off a kid, who didn't really know what he had. I was more than willing to pay $110,000 for it cause, I can resell it tomorrow for $500,000 no problem....but I don't plan on selling it. The car like Defenstrates has a couple of issues, I have to fix the gull wing doors...no problem...I know my way around Mercedes, I have a little problem reaching the peddles and my knees keep hitting the steering wheel....no problem, all I have to do is replace the front drivers seat....there is a little paint on the windshield....nothing a little turpintine won't cure.....on the downside it only will hold two people...but what the heck it is a sports car, and man oh man does it handle the curves. I took it on a test drive and I was freaking out, 0-60 in 4.5 seconds, faster If I'm going downhill...lol.....I love this car....I might even sell my other two for the restoration money on this baby....I bet this kid I bought it from is sorry he let this one go.....they are sooooo rare.....I know this thread means nothing without a pic so I'll try and download one for you....Man...I am more than thrilled with my new ride!!!!!.........Doc :D :D :D

Ok Ok....maybe the kid made out better than I thought.....Funny thing is I bought my father-in-laws 1961 190sl Mercedes Gold exterior, tan interior and a chocolate brown removable iridescent hard top, from his estate when he passed some 30 years ago....I loved the car, but these cars really need to be driven....I drove it a few years but didn't want to put anymore miles on it...so it sat in my garage and I only drove it on the weekends during nice weather...I had to watch the car like a hawk, couldn't just park it and leave it by itself, cause wherever I parked it a crowd would form around it and I always worried that someone would steal it.....it had over 100,000 miles on it and the rubber starting going, and finally the engine seized while it sat in the garage for many years...I always thought I would restore it back to pristine someday when I had extra money....when I sold my house, the guy who bought my house wanted me to sell the car to his friend who collected old model benz. I told him the car wasn't for sale...ever....it was my baby, and it had sentimental value as it was my father-in-laws car, and I planned to restore it back to original. He asked if I would let his friend take a look at it anyway, he said his friend would prob offer me money for it but I didn't have to sell it if I didn't want to. So I finally agreed to let his friend have a look...Little did I know his friend lived in Germany and took a plane flight over to look at the car. His friend named "Helmet" (that was his name) worked as an aircraft mechanic for Lufthansa (SP) airlines so his flight to the US was free. Well to make a long story short Helmet shows up at my house with a three foot screwdriver in his hand (LOL) I kid you not. He looks the car over and tells me he would like to buy it...I tell Helmet his trip was a waste cause it's not for sale and why would he want it anyway it needs to be restored and the engine is seized. He says to me...Let me work on the engine, I think I can get it running, you see if I can get it to run then I can drive it onto the ship and save myself a lot on money, instead of having to have them lift the car on a wench to get it aboard so I can take it back to Germany....He then says to me, I'll tell you what, let me work on the car, If I can get it started I will make you a cash offer, you don't have to accept it if you don't want to....If you don't sell it to me at least you'll have a car that's drivable. I laughed...pointed out my tool box and told him to knock himself out. Helmet worked on the car for 5 hours...and at the end of those 5 hours the car engine was purring. I was impressed....He then makes me an offer for $25,000 cash, I was floored cause I bought the car for $2,000...So I walk inside the house my mouth must have been opened and dropped like near my knees and I tell the wife..Helmet just offered me $25,000 cash for your father's car....she looked at me and said, what are standing here for go take the money idiot! Off drove Helmet with my 190sl....He restored the car...put about $10,000 into it....sold it to a Doctor in Germany for $55,000....and sent me this picture of my car restored....it's still on the road and worth more than $125,000.....I'm still kicking myself for selling it.....wish I had it today.....someday I hope to own another, but for now all I can afford is that car I bought from the kid....LOL...Doc :)
