How should I be using my new Matriarchs?

I got two of the new FFG Matriarchs, one PE and one SE. Can these be EDC? I can't imagine them being as useful as my FFG Delica.

I'm going hiking tomorrow, should I bring one?

Use the SE as a carry self defense knife.

Keep the PE as a safe queen, and possibly resell in the future.

Carry them and let them talk to you, they'll tell you what they like to do the best. :D

Like most non-standard blade profiles I bet they'd be good at pretty much everything but cutting on a flat surface.

In most cases I would agree. But you let the Matriarch talk to you, you may just lose an ear. :D

I think you will find the Delica more useful on your hiking trip...that being said the Matriarchs are great knives. If you don't use them you won't know what they can do....use them around the house and in the garden first. The PE can be used for SD, but I think you would be better served with the Delica for SD as well....Doc :D

I'm afraid of the tips of these ending up doing all the cutting, getting dull and being hard to sharpen. Anyway, I doubt they'll see that much use anyway. If I carry one with a standard knife like the Delica, that knife would probably do everything anyway. If I carry the Matriarch alone I'm afraid I'll encounter to many flat surface cutting tasks or something. They may both end up as safe queens if I don't trade/sell them.

My delica is going hiking along with my Opinel and maybe a fixed blade. I still feel like throwing the Matriarch in my back pocket anyway. I wish I still had a large Sebenza and a Carter neck knife, my ideal small knife combo. But that's neither here nor there. I'm realizing how good a knife the FFG Delica is and I think I need another color!
