CF Manix S90V Pricing Inquiry

#1

Post by nofatchicks »

Well I am back with another pricing question already. I am not currently but will be in the market for a CF Manix S90V in about a month. I have to grab a few Militaries first... haha! So for now this is purely researched based.

What should I expect to pay for this knife NIB? I posted a similar thread on another forum and got a reply immediately from this guy asking $300 US for his. Of course I found this to be hilarious and I think he was offended by my reply but what can you do. What he wanted for it was outrageous! He was probably looking to make a quick sale to someone with little knowledge. But anyone who knows anything about these knives would they are getting hosed... haha.

I am figuring it shouldn't cost any more than the Military S90V. I am thinking around $200-225. Just wondering what my new Spydie friends think. Is this reasonable?

I'd call that very reasonable, to the point where you may have a very difficult time finding someone willing to sell you one within that range.

Country Knives is sold out, and they sell their knives for full MSRP which, for that Manix 2 was around $280, IIRC. Considering the limited run, that offer for $300 may not be all that hilarious. There's a good chance it's closer to reality than your numbers.

I would say if you can find one in the price range you are thinking I wouldn't wait to purchase it. Deacon is right of course, $300 is not really that high for this knife. I paid $265 and that was a while back.

A few sold on eBay well over $300 a few months ago, now prices seem to have come down around $250. There were a few deals on forums in the price range you mentioned, those were steals, in my opinion.

I think I am recalling correctly that I recently saw one at $225, and I don't think it gathered any dust at all on its way to a new buyer.

I gave $250 for mine a couple weeks ago, plus $12 for express shipping from canada. I suppose this is a fair enough price from what I've heard.

I picked mine up for $235 several months ago. They seem to have come down a bit recently. Several months ago $300 wasn't unheard of.

Given how rarely we see S90V and the small size of the run I don't think $250 is outrageous. I'd consider anything under that for an NIB example to be well bought.

I've seen the S90V Manix go for a low as $210.00 and as high as $300+ (thought it was about $325.00). This past month there were several on other forums that were out there for a few weeks, unsold, for about $245-$255. I wonder if the releases of the blue manix and the CTX diluted the demand for the S90V model a bit.

That might be true. I, personally, had to have them all, but the blue one is beautiful, and the Foliage Green one is down right sexy!

Yeah, I just recently sold my Blue Manix on ebay. It was my fist time selling on ebay and I got a tip about posting shipping costs. I want to say it was from BigBrad75 (if that is his same user name on ebay... well sounds very familiar anyway. In case it is you I am mjjt82 on ebay). So as advised I opened my selling/shipping area up to beyond North America with a general flat rate shipping amount. Haha, turns out a guy in Norway bought it and I had to pay 3X the listed shipping. I lost $25 on the knife and an addition $45 on shipping. I should have just kept it. I mean, I plan on getting another one anyway down the road.

I think the other sprint runs might have driven demand down, that makes sense.

In the end, I think the CF and Blue will carry the most value. Just my completely unfounded thoughts.

yup, that was me. I hope it isn't my fault that you lost out on the shipping. I had good intentions. Don't be mad. I sorry.

Hahahahaha! Don't worry about it, it wasn't your fault at all. I kept getting messages inquiring about shipping to Germany, which is also why I opened it up. I just didn't think it would cost so much. If I stated it costed like $60 no one from NA would have bought it. I just couldn't figure out how to list separate shipping amounts for withing Canada, North America, and Over Seas. It was a learning experience. I will have to figure it out for next time.

I just discovered avatars. BigBrad75, the knives you have listed that follow your messages is that part of your signature? Just trying to jazz up my profile and get some character to these posts.

There are not a lot of the CF/S90Vs out there. Prices can be a bit steep just because no one is willing to part with them. I love the knife with those material. It feels right in the hand. Great knife and well worth buying when you find one.

I actually got mine rather early and paid a ridiculously low price. The seller sold it, on eBay, with a picture of a regular Manix II. I inquired, got the model number, then had him send pictures of the blade. Sure enough, it was the S90V - purchased for under $70...barely under $70. ;)
