Gayle Bradley Clip
Hi,
Was thinking of getting a few Gayle Bradley clips to swap out on the Paramilitary 2(currently have a Delica clip sitting on mine).
I recall a while back one of the members here modified their GB to accept a wire clip, and that process involved breaking off part of the original hourglass clip on the GB.
I think there might have been a comment back then that the original GB clip actually broke relatively easily.
Was wondering if anyone who has both these knives can comment on the relative strength/thickness of each of these clips? Has anyone (un)intentionally broken the clip of their GB? Thanks!
David

It did break easily, but not under normal use. I snapped off the top with a couple pairs of channel locks.... I only did that because I needed the part to attach the wire.jylong_away wrote:

Aside from color, they're the same clip. Think most of the damage reports about breaking "in the field" have been from the version of that clip which has the lanyard hole (FRN D4, E4, Stretch II, etc). The placement of the lanyard hole weakens the clip in the area that probably gets the most stress, as it is right below the one bend.

That GB sure has a nice patina to it!kbuzbee wrote:
Were you referring to mine? The mod was very easy and the wire clip is working wonderfully.

As promised
Image of my waved PM2 with the black delica 4 clip, as promised to SUDS
Managed to do the wave mod without going through the logos this time, which is good, since my model is from the first batch with only Sal's logo.

Could have just put a zip tie through the hole, never got why people like to do that to a perfectly fine blade  , but hey it isn't my knife!jylong_away wrote:Image of my waved PM2 with the black delica 4 clip, as promised to SUDS

I dun think so...never actually tried that with any of my modsjzmtl wrote:Can you open bottles with that wave?
I could never get the Zip tie mod to wave reliably. Doing it this way allows me to wave from just about any pants pocket or waistband that I clip the thing to.HeiHeit wrote:Could have just put a zip tie through the hole, never got why people like to do that to a perfectly fine blade  , but hey it isn't my knife!
Cosmetics most likely. I would zip tie all my Spydies because I love wave functions but I don't because it looks quite ugly. I most definitely prefer that cut through the blade to create a wave instead of a zip tie.HeiHeit wrote:Could have just put a zip tie through the hole, never got why people like to do that to a perfectly fine blade  , but hey it isn't my knife!
Nice mod by the way! What did you use to make that cut?

Thanks for looking. Used the cut-off wheel and small Aluminium Oxide grider attachment on the Dremel. Spydercos do tend to take a wave mod quite well, due to a lot of the blade being exposed in the closed position.
I tried this swap and while the holes are in the same position as the Para, the diameter of the holes is smaller. Be aware you will have to ream the holes out to get the screws from the Para through the Bradley clip. You will also have silver screws on the black clip if that matters to you.jylong_away wrote:Hi,

Thanks for that. Guess I'll be putting the ol' Dremel to work again :)grubbster wrote:I tried this swap and while the holes are in the same position as the Para, the diameter of the holes is smaller. I have some black 2-56 screws from Benchmade which fit as well, so that should be ok.
Is the GB clip as thick as the PM2 clip?
