I like it a lot. Will be adding one shortly.

Thanks, I will keep that in mind.....angusW wrote: I bought a Manix 2 off of a fellow from the U.S. Since the pivot can't be tightened he put a small piece of clear plastic between the blade and the liner at the pivot. It made the Manix completely unflickable yet the plastic was unnoticeable. If you do buy a Para 2 ask the seller if he could do the same.
Well, I finally got mine yesterday and must concur with 5.56's thoughts.
It's the biggest knife I own, so the size alone was kind of startling. But it feels very nice in hand. It also doesn't take up too much of the pocket and even feels ok with IWB carry.
My only gripe is disengaging the lock. I'm used to Spyderco's lockbacks and liner locks. The compression lock is safer to disengage but more uncomfortable, IMO. You really have to press firmly with your finger tip to disengage the lock so the blade can close. That's a great safety feature, and one I appreciate, but it makes playing with the knife an uncomfortable activity.
Otherwise, I see the Para 2 as my main EDC once the colder months come around. Right now, my Krein'd Salt 1 just can't be beat for summer carry.

I concur. I don't like things that need to be "broken in", that includes shoes, jeans, anything. Life is too short.D1omedes wrote:My only gripe is disengaging the lock. Don't care for the shiney clip either as that's only going to attract unwanted attention. I'm replacing that ASAP.
Otherwise, I like everything else about the P2 and it's going placed among my favorites.
Can't wait to get one. Thanks for the great review and pix. A question brought up by a couple of comments in this thread: Can the too-shiny Para 2 clip be replaced with, say, a black one from a Para 1? Are they identical re size and drilled holes (although a different shape)? I also eagerly anticipate a G-10 SE version of the Para 2, as long as the same proportion of PE section as the Para 1 is retained.

I hate to be critical of such a great company and product but I must agree that the lock disengagement is difficult. I'm a bit concerned about cold wet hands in January... fumbling. Additionally, I haven't found a way to close it one-handed that isn't somewhat dangerous.
Other than this one functional difficulty the knife is really excellent.

No, but you can replace it with a black Delica/Endura clip.Knifewing wrote:A question brought up by a couple of comments in this thread: Can the too-shiny Para 2 clip be replaced with, say, a black one from a Para 1?

I'm an admirer of Spyderco's designs. Using them is like immersing yourself in music or studying a painting in a museum. I buy some "fine" art but my preference is for usable art.
I actually really like this style of clip. I haven't had any issues with the clip on my Manix which is the same style. On the other hand, I think that I'm one of the few people who doesn't like wire clips, so I'm glad that they didn't go with one.
I'm curious about the compression lock. I've never used one before and it seems like one of those things where some people love them and some people just can't get over its quirks.

I think the wire clip is perfect on the Sage, Caly 3, and my UK drop point.npueppke wrote:I actually really like this style of clip. However, I agree that the "standard" Spydie clip works best on their larger knives.
