I mean that yesterday i got Spyderco Native in FRN and CPMS30V, USA made.

After 6 months with my Pacific Salt, which even with its...holow+saber grind (not sure) i still think that is the perfect combination of size, design and materials i just could not pass the deal on a NIB Native. So...i sold my Benchmade 557, which was sitting in the drawer, gave something like 15 $ more and i got the C41PBK.

It is my second Native. I have Native 3 (VG-10). I'm not using it because i like it too much :-)...

The S30V native is comfortable, sharp (as usual...), light, we'll see how it'll hold on with the rust (that H1 can really spoil you :-)).

I was impressed how precise is the blade manufactured...the edges, the finish, the sharpness...all good.

My only complaint, and it is not a real problem, is that the edges of the FRN handles were not finished...you know these little plastic left-overs (like wire-edge) after the piece was removed from the mould...normally they should not be there. But that is all. The blade is centered, the lock up is tight (no bladeplay), the clip is perfect.

With every Spyderco knife i buy, i become less interested for other brands...You people just take it all, mix it up and the result is...outstanding.

BTW that Pacific is cool... no rust, stays sharp and rides in the pocket like it is not there.

That is all for now.

Once Spyderco, always Spyderco. Maybe one day we all will know the secret formula ;-)

Hi Mitko,

Thanx much for the kind words.

Our craftsman, Hristo, that operates our laser and grinders is also from Bulgaria, and he contributes a great deal to our quality.

I just ordered a Native, its headed my way now.The left over molding material is usually called flash.I used to be a molding press operator. You inject a little too much resin and it leaves more flash. Not enough resin/material and you will have a part that isnt fully formed,ha ha.On my old job it was hard to get the perfect balance,we usually had a little flash.More grinding needed is better than half a part.I assume its easy to get off.I will sand/buff it off if it is on mine.I do wish the knife had the wave feature simply because of the hole size and location.

Well, I WAS going to say that if you like the Native, to check out the Native III, but you beat me to it by already having one! I think, with it's 3D Ergonomic handle, that this is the PERFECT Native! At least, so far. It's a shame that this model is being discontinued instead of being EXPANDED upon.
18 :bug-red 's and counting so far... :winking-tongue

hahaha Bulgaria FTW! :D

I too own a Native 3 and am really impressed by its ergonomics. The knife is simply made for my hand. Although I've now switched to a P'kal and Tenacious combo for edc, the Native was my first spydie and it still has some emotional value for me. It is also the only knife a thought I've lost, only to find it six months later in a backpak.

I have always thought the native was a great knife and under appreciated by the masses. Everything you said i agree with. Only negative is it is a hollow grind which is not my favorite. but with a little work you can slim down that thick area that a hollow grind has right above the sharpen bevel.

Congrats on your Native.
It was my first :spyder: . For some reasons I never liked Native3, but absolutely love FFG Natives and cannot wait for Native5.

My top choices Natives5, Calys, C83 Persian

Hi all :-)

Some everyday experience...EDE ;-)

5 days sweating and cuting food (tomatoes, sandwiches, peaches on ... not exactly wooden board...it was а hard surface, but not ceramics ot glass). I didn't carry it with me on the beach so the sand was not a problem. The knive was washed and dried after every meal, and has 3-4 hours stay in my pocket at...25-27 degree C summer heat while walking in the city.

Bottom line... still shaving sharp, 2 shiny spots on th edge that are less then 1mm in lenght (they are too small to care about, i mean that the blade is far from any need for sharpenning), no rust tight lockup after i've played the open-close game (no flicking, but still a bad habit). The clip never created any problems (riding in cars - safety belt issues, collision with furnitire or inappropriate exposure of type "O my GOD! He has a knife!!!!")

So i mean that i'm happy...happy , happy :-)

Glad you like it...the Native is one of my personal favorites. When a FFG Native hits the market, Spyderco can count on a purchase from me.

Yeah i WANT a CF knife but because i'm gonna beat the heck out of anything i carry, i just don't have the heart to buy one because of the price. I just hope the FRN and/or G10 version has a FFG option too.

I think the g10 version (if ever released) will be round the same price point as g10 e4. The only thing that would be worth spending a 100$ or more would be titanium framed,g10 scaled, and s30v or D2.

Sal, you rule. Seriously. I have never seen a businessman with such a personal touch -- or at least one who wasn't trying to use the personal touch to atone for a quality deficit.
