Caspian Salt on the way

#1

Post by dbcad »

I chose the pointy version. My first :spyder: combo edge. It seems like one of Spydercos neglected models and I had to try it for $65. 1/8 inch thick hunk of H1 with a very interesting shape. Should be ideal for my boating outings. Spyderpac coming with it, finally a good storage option.

Looking forward to this week.

Let me know how you like it Charlie. I have wanted to get one for a little while now, I have not put H-1 to work. Very curious about it's edge retention.

By the way, it appears you have a spyder bite just there. :D

Caspian is a good knife. Fits in hand really well in any grip. I like mine a lot, although I have yet to really use it.

Congrats on the Caspian. I bought the version with the blunt tip, figuring I could use it as a safety knife when kayaking, to keep from cutting myself if I have to cut away some rope entanglement or something. I haven't really put it to much use yet. It is a little difficult for me to pull it out of its sheath, but I LOVE the finger index-hole.

As another post mentioned, the H1 steel can scratch easily, so just drawing it out of the sheath a few times you may notice some small cosmetic scratches, but if you got it to use, don't worry about it and just enjoy the knife. I haven't tried to polish up my blades yet. Pretty much all of my knives get carried sometime or other, even my forum knife, they are too much fun to leave on a shelf.

Just checked on the order with CS, they ran out and won't be recieving more till later this week. Bummer it won't be here for my lake trip this weekend, but it'll get here eventually.
When it comes I will try to post pics that say more than the standard catalogue photos.

Caspian has arrived

But no pics yet, have to wait until the weekend to get some decent ones. I'll give some impressions though.

I like it. It's definitely different than most knives you see, the handle angle is great. I think I see Mr Schemp in there somewhere. The fingerhole is nice too, Mr Perrin? and it feels really nice when I hold it. Super large swedge taken off of the top helps make it very light and controllable. This is now my lake knife of choice.

Nice and sharp out of the box as usual, but the cord cutter doesn't like clothesline or paracord. Probably very good for string, fishing line and nets though.

Sheath is stiff, but seems to be working in a little bit. It's been the same experince for me with most Kydex sheaths.

The Caspian has bumped the swick for the time being going to work. Today it only cut a sandwich, but cutting demand is variable for me at work. It cut the sandwich well tho..lolol

I like it especially for the price and the H1. I can feel this combo edge being a mainstay in my carry in the future. I'm glad I bought it.

Pics this weekend.

Here they are. The Caspian goes to work with me everyday now for a while, nicely tucked into a pocket in my lunch cooler. I like having it around, it cuts my sandwich in half everyday (used to work in an italian deli) and handles most everything else that I have to cut, plastic tubing, paper, cardboard etc. I really like this knife :D

Great pictures! I love the looks of the caspian. I didn't realize it was that small.
