I love those matte finished clips. I may need to take sandpaper to my polished clips.

Agreed, I like stripping the paint and basically just leaving it as is. I don't like light bouncing off my edc's clip. I think the bare clip blends with most of my clothes better too (obviously black being the exception).sharpguitarist wrote:i don't like black clips, and i don't like polished clips.
i like the beadblasted finish that's under the black paint.
I prefer the look of the bare metal clips, in that bead-blasted look hiding under the black paint. The paint just seems to attract scratches.

My Delica (with homemade wire clip) and D4:

I think it really looks better with the foliage Green scales, since this is supposed to be for the new Army camo, the black clip stands out (as long as the finish lasts), the matte metal blends in better.

Let's consider: the OIF/OEF desert tan Native has a matte metal clip, not painted, to better withstand the rigors of harsh use and climate. It'd look shabby after a while of getting the black paint scratched up.
(That said, I've got a shiny new ZDP-189 D4 in BRG to give to my dad today, with a shiny black clip!)

Well I like do black clips. I don't like shiny clips, they just add unnecessary attention to your pockets. I have replaced them with black clips in the past. I have no problems with them showing scratches etc, adds a little character in my opinion. However the Millie & Para clips do seem to wear far better than the std Delica type clips which the paint / coating seems to chip off rather than wear down. Spyderco seems to have nailed this problem with the Bradley & Chokwe clip IMO.

MountainManJim I used to be the same way as you, but have grown to like the black clips on certain models. It seems the older black clips hold their finish better for longer.I really like the bead blasted clip on the JD Smith over the polished clip.I'm just not a real blingy kind of guy I guess. Oh ya my name is Jim too ! :D
