Now his Yojimbbo2 has been designed with this feature built into the design, where as with the Delica, it was accidental.

I don't think there are plans for a specific number of variations. AFAIK, the next one, after the Collins Bolt Lock version, will have the Mar/McBurnette midlock. Still lots of locks out there and a number of them have been mentioned as "possibles", some which Spyderco has used before, like the compression lock, others they have not, like the One Hand Lock AG Russell uses. The Sage is an excellent design and, at the rate of one new version a year, I'm betting there will be a decent amount of interest in any version they come up with.

Wow, zombie thread alert! - great historical reading, though. I especially liked the part in bold red below, which is from 2003 (!):
Do you have link to original thread - I was trying to find it for quite some time.

Thanks, Vassili.

Sal posted the following on the british bladeforums in a thread about the Lion Steel SR-1 (I have one, it's AWESOME):
Let me know what you think of it after some use. We're working with Lionsteel on a "spyderized" version of his SR1. Hoping to have a prototype of the model by the Blade Magazine show in June.

Just under USD$376.00, 90-day wait before the knife is ready...........

One of our Aussie compatriots has just ordered one.

[quote="Sal Glesser"]Hi AKnife,

At this time, regular production will be with hollow ground blades in 154Cm with full liners.

Most Sprints will be in Full Flat grind with skeletonized liners and different handles.

But with the many colors being asked for and the "exclusive" versions committed, there should be quite a variety, at least for the next year or so.

I saw a pink G-10 Manix2 being assembled last week.
I want one! :D

sal wrote:Hi Marion,

Don't know who made the O1. It's a standard steel for many foundries.

Blanks will more than likely go on sale this month.

We plan to eventually make a hi-tech steel version, full flat grind, S90V or 20CP.

^ What is meant by blanks? Like blanks of the bushcraft knife, that would be great.

This needs to be here:
I carry a VG-10 Ladybug almost everyday. Usually the FG one.

Hey Knifedude.

We probably won't make another orange one, at least not for quite a while and we'd have to change something on it to make it different.

Also, our current thoughts re to make a color and just keep it rather than make it s a sprint. The purple one will probably hang around for a while, as will the yellow H1 version.

The new version with the larger thumb hole and VG-10 is a very functinal cuting tool that seems to be socially acceptable in most areas.

But as long as you started the thread, let's discuss adding another color. I thought about a bright blue, but I'm open to your preferences.

Any interest in a ZDP version, ful flat grind, British Racing Green?

2 Persian Models are in the works!!!!!!!!!

Not only is that good news but DARK RED G10!!!! Means maybe other models could get that treatment and it isn't just for trainers anymore? Who knows but I love this place :D
sal wrote:Hey Spyderfly,

That's a beautiful piece. Santa Fe certainly does have some skill.

It sure is difficult to please the many varied preferences suggested......but we try.

There are currently two Persians in-the-works. One is a sprint with bolsters and a polished G-10 scale in dark red.

On the other, Eric, who worked quite a bit with Ed on the current Persian design, felt that the true functional "spirit" of this excellent design would best be served with a G-10 version, peel ply, full flat grind and skeletonized liners. Light and thin.

I like the sound of the light/thin Persian. It'll be something like a folding Moran. I like the idea.

We're working on a new version. Thinner, narrower, same blade shape (but narrower), full flat grind. Same lock. G-10 scales. Same length. A test of the pattern improvement.
