The Rookie and jimping

#1

Post by flash900 »

The Rookie seems like a sweet blade, but, unfortunately, has no jimping.

I'd call the lack of jimping in my Walker CF a demerit and a disappointing oversight.

I'd be interested in any comments about jimping, pro or con, from those who have used the Rookie.

Thanks.

There are knives I'm glad have it and others I'm glad don't. Personally, I'd put both of those models in the "light use/gent's knife" category and be happy Sal didn't hit them with the tactical stick. But, if I really liked a knife that didn't have jimping and thought it would look or work better with it, I'd pay the "my way tax" and have someone add some.

I think it is fine without jimping, what it really needs is a more pronounced bolster

The Rookie is a great little knife that has, IMO, no need at all for any jimping.

I like my Sprint Run Rookie a lot.

Fantastic knife just the way it is. Great size, great blade, thin and lightweight.

I like jimping but the absence of it on the Rookie doesn't bother me in the least.

I'm a jimping guy...for my knives it's a must...if the factory doesn't put one there..out comes Mr. Dremel and I will do it myself...Once a jimping guy ...always a jimping guy.....Doc :D

It's likely not jimped because it's an old design like the Harpy (vs the Tasman).

It can be fixed in the aftermarket. A small price for a knife in a class of it's own. 2.2oz, 1 liner, g10, 3" blade :)

Rookie has arrived

My Rookie has arrived and it's a real honey. Great size for EDCing.

But it just calls out for jimping.

Where can I have this done?
