I myself prefer VG-10. It's a top-notch all around steel. Good edge retention and stain resistance without being a bear to sharpen.

What are your performance needs? I have found VG10 to be more resistant to corrosion and seems to polish up a bit brighter. ATS-55 in my experience can hold an edge just a bit better, but not a large margion. If there was a Spyderdco model that was available in either, I would pick ATS-55 unless the VG10 version was a ton less expensive.
