Cut a man today

#1

Post by Pete1977 »

Specifically, myself. :o Put a 1 inch slit in my hand with the tip of my harpy while cutting zipties off of my lobster crate. I have been ziptying them shut because someone stole 5 out of the crate last week. I don't know how my hand got in the way but it did. The tip of the knife is actually pretty dull (the previous owner sharpened it on both sides.) but it hooked into the soft meat on my hand where the thumb meets the palm and zipped it right open. I saw a vein inside at one point. It was a pretty deep cut but direct pressure stopped the blood flow pretty fast and I don't think I hit anything major. I cleaned it and put some butterfly closures on it and am good to go.

I must be getting old though, I almost fainted when I saw that vein and I have done far worse to myself  ...needless to say I didn't go fishing today.

Ouch,... Did you try superglue? I don't know if you were active when that thread was active, but there is a great tutorial in here: http://www.spyderco.com/forums/showthre ... =superglue

Aha, zip ties again.

They're responsible for quite a few cuts. I have a 1" spyderbite in my left thumb thanks to a zip tie. Nowadays whenever possible I use nippers for zip ties.

Congratulations! There are very few things that compare to the little love nips of a Spyderco. It has now accepted you as worthy. I am always concerned if I don't get a little nip within the first week or two of getting a new Spydieknife.

I'm really looking forward to my next two planned purchases, a Warrior and a Temperance 2! If I don't shed a few drops of blood with these two it will kind of remind me of that old Righteous Brothers song, "You've lost that loving feeling..." :spyder:

And yes I did think it the romantic highlight of Sweeney Todd when Johnny Depp sang a love song to his razors! :D

As soon as you're thinking of the "soft meat" of you hand, you know you're having a bad spyder day :(

That reminds me of when I cut my index finger and had to get 5 stitches from my Kershaw leek. No major spyder bites thank goodness. I have nicked myself quite a few times, once with my p'kal while closing it one handed I caught my palm between the blade and handle.

When I was a dealer the Harpy was the only knife that got me right out of the box.
Harpys need extra care in handling.

BTW, I LOVE lobster. Yum!

Thanks everyone. It is healing up nicely considering my hands are in wet slimy gloves all day :D I would hate to get slashed with a SHARP harpy though!
