Run on Caly 3 G10/VG10 PE?

I was trying to pick up a Caly 3 in G10/VG10 plain edge and seems most everyone but Spyderco.com is sold out.

Are they that popular or is there another reason?

Does anyone have a reputable store to recommend (other than TheBladeShop.com).

They are discontinued, but it's very easy to find the carbon fiber/ZDP-189 models at great prices - often not much more than the G-10 ever was.

Using Google Product Search I can find several G-10 ones, but I don't have any experience with those sellers.

I have the CF/ZDP-189 and love it. Great EDC.

Thanks for the info. I really like CF and ZDP but that laminated thing I don't care much for. And I would probably have better success sharpening VG10. Still might end up with a CF.

Most of the places show out of stock after clicking on the links using Google shopping search.

I did find one other place and sent them an email.

Thebladeshop.com doesn't have them either even though their web site does not indicate any issues.

It looks like dealers, who I use are out as well. If you have time, you can watch secondary market. After Caly3 was discontinued, I was able to pick up couple slightly used at very decent price.

I have both and while the CF handle looks superb, the G10 handle is actually more grippy. I also think that VG10 is largely good enough for nearly everyone.

What's ironic is I bought the SE version about a year ago because I saw where it was being discontinued according to Spyderco.com. I even bought it from Spyderco web site cause they had it on sale (less than MSRP). Appears it is easily still found to purchase.

Now I decided I want to get the PE version and I don't see any information about it being discontinued but it's nowhere to be found except for Spyderco.com for full MSRP.

And at that price I gotta really ask myself how bad do I really want it.

Yeah I heard. Didn't know the 3.5 blade was for the blade length. Anyway I like smaller knives so the Caly 3 is about as large as I go.

However, depending on what features the 3.5 could change that. Something like CF with S30V and I am in for sure!
