i had been here on the forums, sitting in my living room, minding my own business, and our little blue healer named suki, started barking. she's usually pretty quiet unless somebody comes to the door, but today she started, and was looking under the couch. well i get up to see what she was going off on, and she runs to the end of the couch against the wall. i took a look and couldn't believe what i saw. there was a four foot snake curled up in the floor. ****!!! :eek:
i couldn't tell what kind of snake it was because of the cramped space. so i rounded the dogs up and my wife hurded them into the bedroom and promptly shut the door.
she handed me the fokos that i made a while back, and went to the living room and pinned that dude to the floor. i ended up crushing it in the process.
i used the spike end of the fokos to pick up the snake and take it outside.
it was a blacksnake. i had to cut it's head off because i had mortally wounded it. i used my d-4 to do the deed. how it got in the house i've yet to figure out.
our little dog earned her keep today!
hows that for excitement!

Dude, I'm sorry but after being riveted to the story and seeming apparent part to where you crushed his head and had to kill it --all that I was straight on with.

My viewscrean just showed the top part of the picture, I kept reading... then seeing him cut down burst my sides. Dead snake, Gooood Dog!!
NIIIICE!

We get snakes in Colorado of course, grew up with them around, two breeds of rattler -- but sometimes when certain people like my mother react to just seeing one a hundred feet away with almost paralyzing phobia I just -- it's almost hilariious.

But that pic - scrolled all the way down, and said 'that's just classic'. ;-)

i'm not a big fan of snakes but they don't bother me to see them outside, but when one comes in the house, that's just out of bounds!
believe it or not, this is the second time we've had a snake in the house. we were living in a different place about 15 years ago, and we had just set up a fish aquarium, and my wife and i were laying in the floor watching the fish. i had shorts on and i felt something brush against the back of my leg. so i just casually swiped the back of my knee. then i felt it again, this time turning around to look and there was a little gardener snake right beside me. the wife about **** a brick! well, i did too actually, ha!
i ended up beheading that one with my d-1 se.
my wife slept with the lights on for a month before she got over it.

Must be her Aussie heritage to be a snake dog. We have a fair load of them & very poisonous. Definitely better outside, than in.

I have had a home in the desert for 34 years, and have seen two ot three snakes in that time.

Our cat's recently caught a small on about 2.5" inside the house.

But, nothing like what you had. That was awful!

What a good doggie. I like snakes, but I would it very disconcerting to find one in the house.

if you really want snake insurance, get a cat. :D dogs will bark and make a ruckus when a snake is around, but a cat will devote all of its energy and craftiness to killing the snake... and will somehow always win!

i had an amazing cat in zambia that killed a few of the buggers, including a cobra about 5 feet long. i had lots of chilling snake encounters there. one of the most dramatic was when i was going to bed one night... felt this splash of water upon my leg... i looked down, and there was a massive black spitting cobra under my bed. it took my neighbor and i a couple hours to finally kill the thing... it was horrible, and a truly dangerous face-off. it ended up being seven feet long, with a head the size of the palm of my hand.

Cats do kill snakes, and other things. They are very proud of their work, and they will bring the kill in to show you.
