Fourth Knife choice for my 1st Spydie Order?

#1

Post by JayTeeEmEm »

Hi All,

I can't waste any more time deliberating! I've locked in a FG Ladybug SE (Just cos I want it), FFG Delica 4 in Grey(EDC Bag) and a Chicago(Office EDC). i'm thinking I need another one just to have an even number

I'm thinking either a utility knife or another classic EDC so I've narrowed my choice to a Persistance (got to be worth a try), a Pacific Salt (no rust, use it gardening, fishing, food prep etc) or a Cento 3 (geez they look nice and will give me a bit of variety for my EDC bag).

Done lots of research but need Help

I think a Pacific Salt would round out your EDC rotation nicely.

As a Salt I owner, I would definitely recommend anything in H-1 steel.

i agree with historical man. salts are great. the only problem is deciding which one to carry.

Pacific Salt sounds like a great choice, with the Centofante 3 as a back up option.

Pac Salt getting a strong response! Still happy with your SE Pac Salt? I'm leaning toward PE.

Thanks for the responses so far, keep 'em coming. :D

I'd have to agree and say Pacific Salt, H-1 is amazing stuff. I would go with PE myself.

Pac salt or any salt for that matter would pretty much give you all the variety you need. I love my salts, worry free and light weight

that black on black pacific salt is pretty hard to resist.........I see it in my future :D

Update

#10

Post by JayTeeEmEm »

OK, quick update. Literally just placed my order with KW. Got a Sharpmaker, Cricket SS SE, Blue FFG Delica and Yellow Pacific Salt. Took the feedback from this thread onboard for the Pac Salt, changed my mind on the grey for the Delica (blue will stick out in my EDC bag better and I think it will look cooler :p ). As the Cat/Chicago were disco'd and as I'd started to look at a Ladybug Hawkbill (no longer available) and was going to get a SE Foliage Green LB, I think the Cricket will suit all the criteria I need in an EDC LBK.

My first order. Kind of a relief knowing the first one has been decided on (been deliberating for ages and stock moves pretty fast) but I know I still want something in CF  and there's so many cool models, it won't be my last.

Thanks to everyone on the forum, it's been great learning alot and now I have a familiar feeling to everyone else: Impatiently waiting for delivery!!

Cheers

Congrats. I've wanted a Cricket since the late 1990's, but for some reason have never been in the right place at the right time to take the plunge.

Anyway, good luck with customs -- I'm in the same boat and currently on pins and needles hoping my first shipment to Australia is not turned away by crusading bureaucrats on a power trip.

I really am upset I missed out on this one on my last order. I would love to give you a "in hand" opinion/review:

So happy you went with the Cricket. Truly one of the best Spyderco designs. I wish it got more attention.

Yeap Daniel, tick-rock indeed mate! It's going to be interesting to see the result especially after the customs thread I started!

JayTeeEmEm good luck mate! Let us know how it goes... :)

Sorry I did not see this question earlier. Yes I am still really happy with my Pacific Salt. I really like serrations on H1 but my Rock Salt works really well and it is PE.

I carry a SE Cricket every single day I'm not flying. I have been known to ship knives ahead to carry on vacation so I do not have to gamble with TSA. I appreciate their efforts, but I also like to avoid risking my knives if possible.

To think -- just 10 years ago I was regularly flying *with* my 3.5" sized Spydercos (and others).

I have to say I'm not particularly impressed with the direction the culture has taken since then, TSA included.

Me too Metric, will do the Prohibited Weapons Permit if need be. :(

You know the wait a little better than others judging by your collection :D

Hawkbill's were looking good Tex. Still keen to read your review if you get one.

Didn't think I'd end up with what I thought to be an "old school" design Spydie but it really does cover the function of a couple of knives IMO, so it has saved me money so far :p The Spins at KC are very cheap atm but the reverse 's' shape and serrations won out.

Roger that, will let everyone know how I go. Already planning some pics.

Thanks CP. Good to see the Cricket love coming out and SE seems to be the popular choice.
