Wonder how it sounds?
We would rather be the knife in your pocket, because is "works" better, than the knife in your showcase, because it "looks" better.

they always sound sweet, just the interior and other stuff never lasts

the old school original 5.0 is still the best compared to the new stuff

I dunno about that... Ever since the third year of the 4.6 I have thought it to be superior.

When the 5.0's were first replaced with the 4.6's they weren't near as refined as they are now. The fox body mustangs were awesome because the power to weight ratio was great. Such a light car and a motor that could be modded very easily. Those cars are still always at the drag strip when I go. When the 4.6 was first put in though I believe they only had around 215 hp, then in 99-04 the 4.6 jumped to 265 hp, and then 05-09 they made it a 3 valve motor and jumped it to 300 hp (all those 4.6's were in GT's) The Cobra's of course used 4.6 motors as well and they had great numbers due to different cam setups and # of valves. Also they usually had better internals. I know the 03-04 Cobra's 4.6 DOHC 4v motor was nasty and built pretty dang good. Those ones cranked out 390 HP and that's under rated (of course those had the eaton blowers on em) They just kept improving on it IMO.

I can't wait to see these 5.0's come out. I think the potential for that motor is huge! I also find it a bit funny that in there test they used the SRT-8 instead of the R/T. The SS and GT are in the same price range at $30k and the SRT-8 is closer to $42 base.

Another interesting thing to check out is the new V6. 305 HP and 31 mpg? That is nuts. These cars are going to really mix up the way people think about V6 cars...

Well back to 4 valves per cylinder and 302 cubic inches! (finally) I'll definitely take the variable valve timing system and 6-speed.

I predict it will sound much like the old 32 valve 4.6 liter minus some exhaust differences. They sound more mechanical than "bubbly" like the older 5.0 OHV. Probably if you look at the output it will sound more like a BMW V8.

Nostalgia aside it should be a good car. It's nice to see them really work on the Mustang. Now it's acceleration is finally matched by cornering and braking. I'm a huge fan of Japanese performance cars but that Stang will make the STi's and Evo's sweat. ;)

Now all Ford has to do is replace the worst rear suspension set-up in the class and the Mustang will be a real go-getter. Looks like a a fine addition to any garage, you ask me.

i read about this awhile back. they should be a blast. i bet there will be alot of modding of the V6 camaros and mustangs as well just for insurance reasons and the total price of the car as well. throw a blower on a 300 V6 and you are going to be where?? 400RWHP. can anyone say sleeper

Sorry, but I find it hard to imagine anyone seeing a Mustang or Camaro as a "sleeper" what with the newest resurgence in modding.
One guy I met had taken a de-badged 2008 Impreza STI and swapped a bunch of parts for the upgraded 2.5i model parts, put a front-mount intercooler on it so that it looks like a "mommy car" but keeps the high-compression turbo and that puppy is a sleeper.

well not a sleeper like a gremlin that can do wheelies but something you would look at and not see the 5.0 or GT badges on it and think it isnt that fast, it is just a V6, if you know what i mean.

Speaking of sleepers.

This car was my brothers, which became my Dads, which became our car education for the next half decade.

Track days were fun because it confused the **** out of people. Something about a flat cornering car with a luggage rack that will touch 117 in the traps on Kumho VictoRacers. ;)

Subies, Supras, Porsches and Corvettes. Even if they were faster (and there were quite a few), the looks alone were worth it.

Oh for sure tony. The day's of "oh its just a V6" are going to be behind us now I have a feeling. With the entry pricing and cheaper insurance that means a lot of people would buy them and have money for mods. With it being DOHC as well that means they will respond great to a lot of bolt ons and power adders. I'm trying to convince my sister into getting one ;)

Blerv, that baby looks great! mmmm Pro Charger ;)

Thanks StangBang!

I agree on the V6. It's got displacement and probably very impressive heads. A little psi makes the world go round. ;)

Completely agree here on the V6. The stock STI Impreza rocks 305 hp out of a 2.5L four cylinder. The new Nissan GTR puts out 485hp out of a twin-turbo V6...stock.

Of course, it also costs from 3-5 times as much to mod a car rather than to just buy the parts from the factory, so going ghetto on the outset is really almost always a losing proposition. :(

I'm just waiting for the US makers to wise up and start making AWD sports cars to keep up with the foreign jobbies that beat them down out of hand anymore. :o

I just found out the the Chrysler 300 has AWD, but only with V6s :( . if only they would put the 6.1L V8 in there. It is a heavy car but it would be alot more fun with with all 4 wheels gripping the road and that would be a sleeper.

The best sleeper Chrysler makes is the SRT8 Jeep Cherokee. Many people have even done boost via superchargers and STS turbo kits. AWD, 800 hp, and 11s in a jeep? Plzzzz! Oh and knowing Chrysler a year old one is about half the price as new :p .

If I had to pick one, I'd take the Charger.

Oops, meant Challenger. What's wrong with me? That's my favorite muscle car of all time and I misspell it.

I agree I would love to see AWD on some american V8's. I drove an STI and it was pretty fun because that AWD ripped like mad off the line. It was cool. I'm surprised the 300 doesn't make the C in AWD. I think it would be pretty cool! SRT8 jeeps are pretty crazy. Not many people know much about em. lol I don't know a whole lot about em but they slip under a lot of peoples radars.
