Sounds like its just me....... :o
Me too. As nice as it looks and will probably be; it'll never be perfect to me with that lock.

Yay. More for us. I really don't see the girlyness but if that means having this will make me look feminine, then so be it. I'm not looking for a tool to validate my masculinity. The millie and para were meant to be military use at first. When you have gloves on and are on the ground in the dirt, it is not good to have a low riding clip at all. You need to be able to grab the knife and deploy it easily. Now that Spyderco realizes that regular people EDC that kind of blade, they are willing to make it an option for all types of carry.

im not trying to validate my masculinity either....im just saying...the knife as it was stuck too far out of the pocket for MOST people....the low rider takes care of this...if you're for real using it in the dirt with gloves on then so be it Rambo...

the knife TO ME, appears to be all curvy now...it may be a better fit overall, but i like the look of the old better.

I've carried my first para for about 5 days. I was shocked, amazed and pleased by the very light weight. The blade is just about as long as I'll go for EDC--3 3/16 +/-, but the very long handle makes for a serious cutting tool and fits my hand perfectly. I also just received my first--and maybe last--millie. I bought the Ti version. Wow. Beautifully crafted. Way, way, way too big for me to EDC. I don't regret the purchase because I find the knife and materials beautiful, but I just won't use it. Para, on the other hand--I'm already shopping for more.

another point id like to make is I dont believe the lowrider clip makes it any more difficult to remove from your pocket....

it just prevents you snagging your wrist on it every 2 seconds and catching onto every thing you walk by...

I'm in the minority with bateman on this. I like the looks of the Para 1 more. I like the look of the exposed tang and aggressive handle shape. I like the looks of the Para 2 but not as much. I know the covered tang and handle shape will be more user friendly but I never had a problem with it before.

If it were me, I would make a hybrid between the two. I'd take the bigger screws, bigger lanyard hole, and 4-way clip from the Para 2 and put them on the Para 1 and that would be my perfect EDC knife. That being said, I will still be getting a Para 2, but I might wait for some digicamo or sprint. That's a big might.

P.S. Bateman, I hear if you have a Para2 you can get a rez at Dorsia.

I can't wait til the Para2 arrives. I was thinking about buying a para d2 tomorrow but now I'm starting to think I should save the money instead.

+1 paramilitary fan
hi:

the paramilitary d2 was my intrdoduction to the Spyderco brand. it's sharpness out of the still surprises me to this day. i was fortunate to get the para d2 when it was on closeout from the Spydie online store.

the only maintenance i've had to do with the para d2 was remove some really light surface rust on the blade. I thought I could wipe it off, but i ended up using a really small dab of polishing compound. Now I coat it with CLP and stow it in knife sack from a benchmade knife. I keep it on me, but consider it a backup to the backup knife.

just waiting for a lefty, orange para (or any left, orange) spydie to feel complete. :0)

I'm no "guru", just a guy who uses the knives I buy. I buy them to use them peroid. As an honorably discharged Marine I especially value a tough, useable knife that is low maintainence. I feel the original para fits this description. I didn't like the first one I bought, but looked at one again recently while at Smoky Mountain Knife Works and I bought another.
I'm pretty sure there were some changes made. This one has the digicam handle and what appear to be brass washers. The fit and finish are perfect.

Again I'm a user and I have over 20 years experience with Spyderco knives and this one along with my Police 3 are my two favorites. I don't sit around fantasizing about defending myself with one of my knives but if I had to with this one or my others, I'd feel confident doing so. As someone who knows what it's actually like to need to rely on my equipment to keep me alive under pressure and with the adrenaline going, this knife gets my vote for an all around great buy.

I also think Spyderco is making a good move offering their smaller minority of customers options as found with the "refinements" of the Para 2, but I hope they don't phase out the original to make a small percentage of customers happy. Take that how you will.

This gift, the Paramilitary 2, will surely stand out amongst the feeble instruments that man hath created and rise up to be the new standard of edged tools. Heed my words, this blade of Olympic proportions shall not be ignored.
Funny, Sal as Zeus and us as his mortals kind of fits!

I can tell you from an LE side of things the FRN P2 will be a welcome addition.

The FRN will wear easier while working and will not absorb as much of the gore that G10 does.

Agreed. But which Para2? The S30v/G10 or the M4/CF?

Talk about being late but I just recognized this. :p

Is there going to be an M4/CF sprint? That would be sweet.

In a perfect world, my grail knife would be a Para 2 with a wire clip. I know that may sound foolish but I just love the low-viz carry of the wire clips. I'd also like to have a version with CTS-XHP. I've heard nothing but good things about that steel. As far as handle material, I'd like either the CF from Taiwan (ie. Sage I) or a different color G10 (tan or deep blue).
