Spyderco Chicago: will it fit in a coin pocket?

#1

Post by Erminio »

Good evening,

I was wondering if the Spyderco Chicago would fit (with the clip removed) into the coin pocket of my jeans - what are the Chicago dimensions?

Thanks

I'd say it depends on the jeans. It will certainly fit in mine, but my carpenter jeans have a watch pocket big enough for my wallet. ;)

Max length (closed) 3 1/8", max width 1 3/8", thickness sans clip 7/16" (3/8" not counting the head of the pivot screw).
I don't believe in safe queens, only in pre-need replacements.

Off-topic, but that tiny pocket isn't actually for coins. Its original purpose was for a pocket-watch :p

My D4 wave fits in the watch pocket of my jeans, so the Chicago should fit even easier. I clip it to the pocket, so an inch sticks out. If you want your Chicago to be fully concealed in the watch pocket, trace the picture to scale on cardboard and try out the fit before you buy.

In all my jeans my Meerkat fits but snugly as it's a wider LBK. I would think the Chicago would easily as well for nearly all jeans.

Thin is the key for a forgettable backup knife in my opinion. My reigning champs are the Cricket and Spin.

Really does depend on the jeans. Found that out by purchasing one pair with a watch pocket so small a Kiwi stuck out.

If the pockect is too small, make a little hole at the bottom of the pocket, so you can clip the folder...just do not forget to clip the folder... and do not use the pocket for coins...
