G-10 Endura

#1

Post by markg »

Some of you may have known, a big online retailer got a batch of G-10 Enduras and sold them at an insane price ($69). It was such a good price no one on the forum even mentioned it...

My, how we learn our lessons. ;)

Anyway, I jumped on one at this point, had to... If not I would have had to turn in my knife guy card.

Well it arrived, and these are nice. Does not even seem like an "Endura" more like a smaller G-10 Police. It looks good, handles well, and was priced very right.

It is a shame these did not do better. It is not that there is anything wrong with them. The problem is that the Endura/Delica are seen as more of an entry level or lower cost knife. Making an "upscale" version is a marketing problem. Like making a luxury version of a Honda Civic. Consider the UKPK, making a budget version of that will sell. In other words the G-10 Endura/Delica was just swimming upstream IMHO.

Which is a shame, they are fine knives. When you have one in hand, it just make sense.

Get one if you can.

Im in the process of getting the G10 Endura and Delica, about 5th down on my list.

The FG FRN and ZDP BRG FRN ones are listed as discoed so Im slowly getting through that list.

The FG colour of the G10 scales is beautiful. Very appealing and classy.

I think both the G-10 Endura and Delica are brilliant knives. Besides my regular job, I sell knives, and from a dealers perspective I think markg nailed it. People were not interested in a more expensive Endura.

To most of my customers Enduras and Delicas mean affordable quality, and only those who were really knowledgeable took the time to look at what this more expensive models had to offer. I did sell a decent number of them, usually anybody who bought an Endura or Delica came back within a few days to get the other model as well.

They seem to be quite popular with knife guys, at least from what I've read on different forums, but I'm sure collectors and knife knuts are only a small part of the actual market.

I have a G10 Endura that I paid quite a bit more, and I must say that it really feels as precise as a top quality custom knife.

I was lucky enough to get one at the bargain closeout prices. The price was the main reason I bought it. Truth be known, I've tended to dislike every other Endura I've tried. This one I like very much, G-10 and FFG make quite a difference to me. I wish I'd seen the matching Delica at a similar crazy price.

I always wondered why the G-10 E4 and D4 needed liners. The millie and UKPK has no liners. Couldn't they do the same with the Endura lockback? Just one big backspacer maybe?

I love my G10 Endura - bought it when it first came out - wasnt interested in the previous non-FFG version or FRN handles (just me...). I didnt see that reduced price. I would have bought another one for that price. And it was worth the original price!! Im thinking of getting the G10 Delica also.

Get one! You won't regret it. If you like 3" blades for EDC, the G10 Delica is one of the best. Definitely my favourite, the handle works a lot better for me than the Caly3 handle.

If they sold out, it must have happened within the past two days, because I swear I saw them a couple days ago.

They were sold out in less than a day. I thought about it too long and missed out on the deal. :(

Yeah, I'm up to three, one to carry and two in the drawer for backup. The Endura and Delica are awesome designs that I'm afraid have fallen victim to their affordability, a typecasting of sorts. I carried a E2 for a while, then went to the S30V Millie for several years. I got a SS AUS-6 Endura as a gift and realized just how good the design is and that it filled everything I wanted. Carried an Endura of some sort ever since and the G-10 is the best yet.

I doubt it...

As for the sale, they have had batches they have sold over the last few months. Got the e-mail newsletter from them, and they had just gotten in another batch last week. Not sure if any of this batch is left so you can check them out to make sure.
